My grandmother was recently admitted here after a stroke. she has lost her ability to speak and move one side of her body. she has a hard time swallowing or drinking. she's on her way back to ICU now because of the impotent staff and nurses who would rather sit at the nurses station on their phone than to make sure she is getting fluids and food. DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! Was all good during intake and then the communication wall went up. now they act as if they couldn't care less about my grandmothers help. I will be filing a formal complaint with HR and the BBB. Disgraceful.

My father-in-law suffered from COPD and congestive heart failure. He lived at Summerford for two and a half years. We felt it was the best facility in the area. It has a good staff, the rooms are large, and they serve good food. My father-in-law never had any complaints. He had quite a few favorite members of the staff. As he entered 'comfort care,' they looked in on him frequently. They were amazing how they accommodated us -- they brought in an extra bed so we could stay in the room with him. They had a tray of snacks and drinks for us, and they also brought us meals. The staff was so respectful after my father-in-law passed away by, among other things, preparing his body before the family saw him. They packed up his room for us and made everything as easy as possible.

Admission of my father to Summerford was easy, smooth and the staff was very friendly and helpful but towards the end of my fathers stay, I become very disappointed with how the office staff and clinical staff handled my fathers situation. He developed behavior problems and was basically shoved out the door. There was communication failure between office and clinical staff and in the end, my father ended up with no where to go and Summerford showed no concern because they did not want to deal with his behavior. I would not recommend this facility because in our time of need, Summerford failed us.
