My mother was a resident of the Calebria House for a very short time. There was nothing good about our experience with this facility, in fact it was heart wrenching for our entire family. Mr. Wasmund advertised that his facility was licensed in treating dementia patients. He portrayed himself to be a person with knowledge of the disease and compassion for a person with the disease, which my mother has. Once we moved my mother in as a resident, it became apparent he and his staff had no experience in dealing with this disease. In reading the 'Description of Calebria House' I see he is advertising staff that is skilled in techniques unique to memory care and behavioral therapies. My mother was shown no compassion as a resident of the Calebria House. My mother was actually secluded to her room, which included during mealtime, because she experiencing delerium from a urinary tract infection. Mr. Wasmund indicated he needed to show his other residents the respect they deserved and needed to keep my mother away from them. That is the truth of how Mr. Wasmund handles behavioral therapy. Mr. Wasmund went as far as to tell me my mother was misdiagnosed, that is how little he knows about dementia and memory care. In less than a week Mr. Wasmund told me my mother had to leave. Let it be said there is nothing abnormal about my mother, she is no different than the average dementia patient. So because Mr. Wasmund and his staff could not handle my mother, the terrifying process of finding a new facility started once again. For any of you that have had to place your loved one in the care of someone else, you know how hard this is. Most importantly, a complaint was filed with the State of Wisconsin, Department of Quality Assurance, as Mr. Wasmund failed to follow the rules and regulations set forth by the State of Wisconsin in caring for my mother. Please be aware there are many discrepancies between his advertising regarding the amenities of his facility and the truth. My mother now resides in a true 'memory care' setting. She is receiving the care she deserves, and is being treated the way she should be treated, which is totally different than the way she was treated and cared for at the Calebria House. I leave this comment in hopes of preventing others from enduring the same experience we had with the Calebria House, which I consider to be the worst experience of my life.
