The Staff at Brookdale are all so pleasant, and the atmosphere is very homey. They always make you feel welcome. The place is clean, and quiet, a really nice place

This is a wonderful assisted living facility! My Mom has been there for about a year and a half and is extremely content. The staff is very attentive to her needs and the facility is clean and comfortable. The employees are so friendly and always greet us when we come to visit. I don't think we could have picked a more caring place for Mom to stay!

My parents have resided in Senior Living Facilities since January 2012 in both Staunton and Harrisonburg. Brookdale (Harrisonburg) has by far out shone them all. It takes a strong leader who is able to work effectively with staff, residents, and families. Director Beth Wells is this person. She does a superb job on a daily basis. The staff knows her expectations and does their best to perform their duties. She has a positive, upbeat attitude that creates a wonderful atmosphere. Beth is very approachable, a great listener, and problem solver. She genuinely cares about her staff, the residents, and their families. Brookdale is a happy place. Both office and care staff are always around talking with folks, sharing a laugh, and listening. I also observe the lighthearted banter that goes back and forth between residents and staff really helps to keep spirits up.Since my father's passing, my mom has continuously received hugs, inquiries about how she's doing and expressions of love, care, and support. I see the ongoing gentle care by staff for mom and watch her face light up when she gets a hug and is told she is loved. This means the world to me.Brookdale is a smaller facility that makes for a very homey atmosphere. The residents and staff have a much easier time getting to know each other because they see each other often throughout the day. Since the building is a single floor, residents have to walk by most other residents' rooms and staff offices to get to the dining area, activity rooms, and front lobby where most activities take place. This allows for constant contact with other residents and staff. I don't feel the isolation I felt when my parents were living in larger facilities.Brookdale is a lovely facility that was recently renovated with new paint, carpet and furniture. The food is also very good and I have eaten there many times. I appreciate having a place like Brookdale for my parents in Harrisonburg. Without a doubt, I consider Brookdale to be extended family. We are so fortunate to have such a superb facility in our area. Brookdale is by far the best.

It is a lovely facility. Unfortunately there is a lack of consistency, a large turn over in staff, a real issue with dietary and food preparation. So much potential if they would just get their act together!

My father has been at Emeritus for three years; he is 93. The staff....from the Director Beth Wells....to every single person there who's in charge of anything has been and continues to be absolutely incredible in their attention to and for my father! I adore these people! They do what I cannot do, which is care for my father 24/7. The facilities are always clean and well-maintained. The 'common' areas are elegantly decorated and furnished, and yet feel very comfortable and welcoming. The dining room is beautifully furnished as well, and its staff serves with great courtesy to residents! The dining staff, too, always has an eye to what would both appeal to my father to eat, and what would be allowed because of medical condition, AND, they also graciously serve me lunch or any meal whenever I visit and eat with him. Top-notch!!My father has had some health issues in his three years there, and has been hospitalized. Staff visited my dad frequently in the hospital, and reassured him, as well as me every time, that all accommodations would be made to help him recover once he returned. And, of course, there are the fine staff who see to my dad's needs and wants on a daily basis - absolutely the finest!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are kind, attentive, courteous, COMPETENT, caring, and I have 'forever' gratitude and affection for these care-givers; I know he 'maintains' because of their professional, and yet personal, attentions to him.I have always believed that any facility for residential care should be clean, well-maintained, and friendly, as well as providing for any health concern. I have always known, though, that it is the PEOPLE who make that facility a place of caring and warmth and compassion.....Emeritus of Harrisonburg is that place....I applaud the entire staff!!!
