I put 3 stars simply because it was the only way I could comment.to those families that make such negative comments1: you had other options and YOU CHOSE Rosehill2: Before YOU placed your loved one there YOU toured the facility and had opportunity to speak on anything that concerned you.3: Virginia laws have changed a great deal in this field therefore we cannot have things such as guard rails or anything that may be view as a restraint to protect a resident that may be deem as a high risk fallen star. what we do in those instances is as a CNA make sure the bed is in its lowest position, fall mats are in place and make rounds on the resident. As longterm care SCNA I have traveled through agencies to assist the staffing issues we face in ALL LONG TERM CARE FACILITIESwe really do attend to the residents with respect and care ,we already view our residents knowing they could be our family member or someday us, if we live as long. BUT NEVER EVER THINK THE STAFF DONT CARE. This feild requires more than just changing a resident and you have to keep in mind, were only human, if its something you can do like get mom some ice, then do it, dont put the call light on and complain we took too long to bring ice when were in another room, YOU GO GET IT. no one can care for your love one better then you .Mean talking how we care givers work or the condition of the facility is, just consider keeping mom home or find a way to help improve a situation. VOLUNTEER at the facility stay a while and visit. Most family members come random and complain every single time and when they do visit its never lonher than 15 minutes and somehow you find a way to complain. Consider your end and where you want to spend your days before you place your love one in any facility

The ammonia level and nose burning smell of urine makes it difficult to breathe in this facility. I give it 1 Star because there is no negative rating on the scale.Horrible.

Having employees rate a establishment is poor managment and decieving. My ex-husband was moved there and it was not his choice. His insurance chose it for him or he would have to pay out of pocket. The information that safety grips and bars and other care needs HAD to be removed are B.S Virginia State Law for rehabilitation assisted living medical facilities care centers etc. MUST have proper equiptment and safety precautions in place.

I first started at Rose Hill in July 1999, but did leave from 2006-2008. I missed 'home' and the residents and returned in 2008 and was reinstated all but the 2 years, I had left so 'on the books' my first day was 5-10-2001. Yes, we've had a large turn over, down through the years, but it's not been totally because of poor management! The poor management was got rid of, as well as those who wanted the pay but did not want to do their job properly! Those who should have been terminated have ruined our reputation by lies and covering up to make themselves look better....take a look at their 'track records'...so why did they leave/get terminated from the jobs 'after' Rose Hill?! We are family here at R.H. and think of our residents as our own flesh and blood! OH YES, we need more staff, but we'd rather work 'short' then just have a body ....we need and are searching for those few good souls who care and are compassionate and take pride in their work! We have an excellent Director Of Nursing, Rose Frye! She takes nursing seriously and loves her residents and Staff. She shows no favoritism and if the need arises, she will not hesitate to set the record straight with you, no matter how she feels about you as a person! Her first priority is to assure, the resident get top notch care! Yes, we DO have Agency help in at the moment, and to be honest, we appreciate their help...but the facility and the long term staff's dream is to be able to hire more into our family, of permanent staff, allowing our residents the ability to bond with those, they will come to love on a daily basis! It's easier to listen to others and believe everything, they say, then to investigate and make your own opinion! BUT Rose Hill Health And Rehab is worth taking the extra mile....We take pride in the well being of your loved one's lives!

The first sign there is a problem here is that the staff are leaving their own five star reviews to hide those of their actual clients. Just cold and pretty pathetic. I feel sorry for those that have to live here full time. Just show up and take a walk. It doesn't matter if its announced or unannounced -- nobody takes pride in this place. The residents are miserable and it shows. The staff are miserable and it shows. The beds are bad, the rooms lack phones, the call buttons are worthless because this place is always understaffed. There are good nurses here, but many them are rude; presumably because the nurse to patient ratio seems to be 1:20. I wouldn't be peachy if I had to care for umpteen people on my own everyday. I would never recommend this place to anyone after seeing how my grandparents conditions were here. I hope this place gets their stuff together and some funding so they can hire more people and accommodate their residents better. It's just sad.
