My mom has been a resident there for almost two years. She just turned 93 and says she doesn't know why God is keeping her hanging around. The day I took her there and moved her in, it was the hardest day of my life. I would not have gotten thru this if not for the compassionate and welcoming administrative and nursing staff. Fast forward.... mom has suffered some ailments such as facial shingles, pneumonia (2), gout, etc.. the nursing staff have been nothing but great with giving her the care she needs and keeping me abroad of any changes. The activities committee are always on top of every holiday, event, tastefully decorating the facility giving the residents the warmth of home. The CNA's definitely have the hardest job there. With only a few hiccups here and there, these guys deserve stars in their crowns. Their responsibilities go above and beyond the call of duty. I cannot say enough about all of things they have done for my mom in lieu of my absence due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Katie Childress knows everything there is to know about mom and calls her Granny. She keeps mom in a routine to make her life as normal as possible. Stephanie Robinson always makes sure my mom doesn't lay in the bed at night wet. She makes it a point to change her to keep her from having UTI's and does it in such a gentle and kind way. JoAnn Rice, even though Mom is not one of her residents, she always is there to help mom out with what we think are little things are big things to her. Ashley, Penny T., Phyllis, Mary, Nicky, Grace, Tabitha and whoever else I may have missed, Thank You All as well for taking care of her and treating her with compassion when I know how tired and hot (from the older folks freezing) you all are. Her nurses; Marsha, Dawn, Penny A., Brenda, Mandy, Carolyn are all wonderful. I never have to worry because they always are so great about calling me to make me aware of the slightest change. The administrative staff have been great also during the pandemic and I know are tired of seeing my car pull up everyday asking them to make a delivery for me and I always have an instruction for them but they always are very friendly and grateful to do so. The facility is always spot-on clean and doesn't have the typical nursing home smell but instead one of cleanliness. Mom always enjoys talking with them when they are cleaning her room. Her laundry always looks very nice and clean too. I know in this day and time, it takes an army to make everything work and I am thankful to all of you for all that you do on a daily basis. ~Regina

I cannot day enough good things about this facility! Everyone, I mean EVERYONE, has been so helpful & friendly. The nursing staff makes sure we know exactly whats happening with our loved one. The PT staff is excellent. The social worker has been amazing, not only helping with our loved one, but checking on us & making sure were taken care of also. Dawn, the incredible woman that makes this all work, is a gem. She goes above & beyond! We would have never made it hhrough this ordeal without her & her compassionate, knowledgeable staff!

My kids have had the opportunity to take part in field trips to this facility, interacting with the patients and staff. The facility has always been clean, and staff seem to be very attentive to the needs of the patients and visitors. I would certainly have my loved one rehab at this center, if the need arise.

I stayed at Autumn Care of AltaVista for almost a month and everyone there was so good to me. Nobody likes to think about going to a rehab center but if I had to go again I would want to go to Autumn Care . .
