We moved our father to Vista village about 6 months ago. He had been living in another much more expensive assisted living facility here in New Braunfels. His life savings were being drained too quickly so we moved him here. The other place was prettier and the nursing aspect more complete, but not worth almost double the price. About 2 years ago we had checked out Vista village and decided it wasn't quite up to par. But when we went back they were making improvements. Dads apt. is larger than most of the other facilities around town and was recently renovated. The previously dark/dank hallway lighting was improved. They allow pets and mobility scooters as well. It is nestled in a quiet modest neighborhood in southwest New Braunfels, (the old place was right on a busy/noisy state highway). Dad likes Vista village and feels safe and more financially secure as well. The food is not quite as good as at his former residence, but he has simple tastes and likes it fine. Just today we attended an x-mas party there and Dad had a good time. They served a good turkey dinner and even handed out individually chosen presents to all the residents. We are happy with Vista Village and would recommend it to anyone looking for real value in an assisted living facility.
