The key site in Marfa, artist Donald Judd's ambitious, gigantic project to display the art/sculpture/construction/installation work of many artists. Walk around the outdoor sites under spectacular skies, tour the many buildings with exhibits.

The Robert Irwin (dawn to dusk) is especially breathtaking, so make sure to check which times its open that day. (Most pices can only be visited during two hour windows, or on a tour.)

Nice little roadstop break. The art is on a nice 1 mile path, and I'm sure would impress a photography buff with the right time of day lighting. Found a Mac.Donald observatory pendant on the ground, going there next as it's 45 miles north of here. #FollowTheOmens

It something different, it's not a typical museum in any sense. Some of the exhibitions are really interesting others not really.

My partner and I did the guided tour but to be honest I would stick with the self guided. Our tour guide didn't show much interest and it was not that all informative. I think you could take in a much better feel about the place at your own pace.
