Parsons House La Porte is a really wonderful place. The team there is very sharp and they know what they are doing. Every time I walk into the lobby there are always a lot of residents doing activities, talking, and laughing. There are also, always a lot of team members around working but also talking and joking with the residents. When I go there it always has the feel of a big Sunday dinner with all the family and everyone is buzzing about. While I don't know any of the residents personally I think that the seem like they are having a really great time, and they have a lot of pride in their community. They always ask me why I am there, and want to have a chat. I have had the opportunity to eat lunch there a few times and it is always so good. They give me a salad option or an entree option and everything is always fresh and delicious. I am so glad I have gotten to know this place. Its just wonderful!

My mother lived at Parsons house for just under 5 years before she went to be with the Lord. The care is excellent and the administrators are caring and reasonable. My mothers health declined with age and the level of care grew as was needed, they were kind and loving and she felt her caregivers were friends.

I will be the first to say I know nothing about this place up until today. I know nothing of the care and/or staff here other than what I witnessed with a coworker driving westbound on Fairmont at about 11:10am. While heading to lunch, we witnessed a lone resident walking approximately 10 feet from the road, in the parking lot. She had gray hair, a gray long sleeved shirt on, and a pink walker, the type that has a seat on it. Having close family that works in the medical field, and also having elderly grandparents that I have helped care for, this can be an extremely dangerous situation. Some patients are suffering from dementia and Alzheimers and aren't aware of the imminent dangers that can be posed when neglectful staff unknowingly allow a resident to leave the building. She appeared to be very confused and I made sure she wasn't accompanied by a staff member or family member before calling the facility to inform them. When someone finally answered the phone, I made them aware of the situation, to which they responded that they weren't aware of the events taking place. I know in other states, facilities can be fined heavily by the state for this. My hope by posting this is not to slander the business, it is to make people aware of what was witnessed, whether it is a family member of the resident, staff possibly trying to cover up, or for a state official to come in and investigate. Perhaps cameras were on site as that could help. I hope that this poor lady is alright tonight and that she didn't suffer and emotional or physical damage due to the circumstances.
