Avalon Memory Care

When our father was suddenly diagnosed with a terminal brain illness and put on hospice, we were tasked with finding a suitable care facility in just a few days. It was such an important decision to have to make so quickly. Through the placement service, A Place for Mom, we were fortunate to find Avalon Memory Care. We met with the owner, Rick, who gave us a personal tour and answered all our questions. The facility was clean and comfortable. It has a maximum of approximately 20 patients, so it had a much more personal atmosphere than many of the larger facilities we visited. With the wood floors, large fireplace, comfy recliners and warmly appointed bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, it had a much more homey feel than your typical elder care nursing home. All the patients were well kempt, given sufficient social opportunities, and had three excellent meals each day with the option to have them shared in the dining area or brought to their rooms. They were checked on regularly throughout the day and night. The staff was personable, professional, competent and very patient. When people have brain disease, they unfortunately don't always act with a calm demeanor, as was the case with our father. We were so heartened by how the staff assured us they were used to it and took it in stride. They were also very welcoming of us as a family and made us feel comfortable with our frequent and long visits during my dad's last weeks. The monthly pricing was very competitive with similar facilities in the area. We were pleased with our decision to choose Avalon Memory Care to help us spend quality time with our father until his passing.

Both the facility the staff at Avalon are top tier! My father was quickly accepted into the Avalon family and we couldn't have been happier with the ease and quickness of getting him into his new home! The group activities, medical staff and the daily care givers were all so kind and did so much to make sure that my father was well adjusted. May God continue to Bless all of Avalon's staff and the families with loved ones who suffer from memory loss.
