I was an employee at The Opal at Music City (Bristol Terrace), and I urge any folks who want their family member to be properly taken care of, to not bring them here. I personally watched individuals who were living there, and still live there, not get their medication on a (just about) daily basis. There were many occasions when there was no certified nurse on duty. There were daily incidents of residents who were unable to walk, eat, bathe, etc. who did not get changed (covered in their own urine and fecal matter) for over 12 hours. These incidents continue to occur and I am working on providing the proper information to the State so that these amazing residents no longer have to be subjected to this neglect. I voiced my opinions to (whom I was told was the HR Director for the company) Ayla and (the person who does not have a license to run the facility- Interim Executive Director) Gabrielle multiple times as well as the Executive Director (father-in-law of Gabrielle) Steven, and for my concerns I was fired. You may ask the residents whether I cared for them as if they were my family, and I am confident they will vouch for me. Not only were there direct issues to the residents, but there are many other concerns such as, non payment for supplies and vendor services. As the previous Maintenance Manager, I found three HVAC units not working due to a multitude of issues (condenser frozen over, controller smashed to bits and/or also frozen over, leaks, etc.), the sewage pumps were failing after finding out that they were just replaced back in Oct. 2019 (on warranty) but were not paid for ($36,000), industrial water tank failing and leaking. The Opal would push off there bills for months, and pay only select invoices. For example Imperial Dade (supplies company) would not be paid for a couple months, so Dade would freeze the account making it so we would run out of laundry detergent, garbage bags, toilet paper, and the list goes on. As a resolution, upper management would tell me to find another provider of goods and make an account. They pushed off every bill, yet Gabrielle (who was originally hired as the Interior Designer) was provided a budget of $60,000 for light fixtures, furniture, renovations, and more. Not only are these clear signs of lack of care, but there are many other large red flags from little to no staffing, to possible theft, to neglect and abuse. My reasoning for voicing these issues, is because within the 3 months of being there, I witnessed all this first hand. If I was able to see these issues within the first month, and tell the upper management and ownership with no corrections being made, well then they were already aware of them without having a care in the first place to fix them. I plead that if you have a family member there, please find a better home for them. They deserve better. For Josephine, Anna, Rachel, Ken (RIP), Miss Opal, Sharon, James, Ronald, Frank, Elma, Linda (both of them), Helen, Florene, Betty (RIP), Miss June, Peggy, Willa, and the many more........ They all deserve better.
