Oakwood Senior Living

This was a nice facility when it first opened, but just as any other place, you sell pipe dreams to get people in and things start going downhill. The turnover of employees is not good. The staff now is very uncaring and unprofessional. How about going back to how things were when the facility first opened. And now,years later,it's worse. There needs to be extensive training in Alzheimer's/Dementia. This is a disease and if there's no knowledge abour it,proper care can't be given. There are a lot of uncaring caregivers working there and it's actually scary. Management doesn't help the issues at all. As with anything,if the foundation is weak,the structure crumbles. As far as the policy,it needs to change. Workers need to have some type of experience to work in assisted living facilities. If nurses have to have licenses,then caregivers should have to have certification. The amount of money that family members spend,don't intertwine with the care provided. Fix your issues before you find yourselves in a legal warfare.

Horrible management. I was fired because they cheated my check and offered to pay half if it out if their pocket not to call corporate and the unemployment office for my check and because I had been complaining about some residents being mistreated and nothing was done about it. The woman end up dying a week later and they told the family there'd nothing they could do. They would always refuse that woman care and help out of her bed. Wouldn't even bring her meals to her, she just wouldn't get to eat for the day . They also refused to give me a warning or seperation notice. Great residents, terrible management and staff.

Most of the time when you go to a senior living or assisted living you leave feeling sad for the residents and their living conditions. This faculty provides you with an entirely different experience. Ive gotten to witness the incredible staff who are so passionate about their residents. They go above and beyond to provide the best care, and you can tell that they absolutely love what they do. The residents always seem so happy, and seem to be truly enjoying themselves. This is the type of place everyone would want their loved ones calling home.
