Rhea Life Care is a beautiful facility. I was there for about 5-6 weeks for Physical therapy and Occupational therapy after a bad MVA. My physical therapist was wonderful, loving, smart, and such a motivator. The Occupational therapist was the same. The administration was very kind to let my husband stay in my room with me. I had some anxiety issues since my accident. The food service tried hard to provide me with vegetarian food . Areas of concern when I first arrived at Life Care they had no pain medications on hand for me and said it would arrive some time the next day. No anxiety medication or thyroid medication. My husband called the administrator on call and told them this was unacceptable and she made some calls and got my medications so I could rest and have my pain managed. There were a minimal of 7 times where the med nurse was going to give me incorrect medications. It only got caught was because I am a nurse and know what I needed and what the pills looked like. They were very frequently a minimum of 1 1/2-2 hours late dispensing my meds. They said they were always to busy. They left me in a bed pan for an hour. I was finally able to remove it my self. The LPNs with exception of one were uneasy caring for my external hardware on my foot. I was allowed to sit short term on my bed with my feet down. I made arrangements for my CNA ASKING IF SOMEONE WOULD BE ABLE TO HELP GET MY LEG IN BED in 30 mins. I was assured there would be. When the 30 min time came I had my light on and after no response I starting calling for help. 55 minutes and I finally caught an LPN who refused to do it because she was unfamiliar with external hardware and she will look for a CNA. I was shaking and in tears die to pain in my foot from being down so long. I begged her and told her I can tell her and it is very easy. She declined I had to wait 1 hour and 20 minutes to get help. I felt faint from pain and swelling. I do not believe there LPNs have much medical experience. They graduate and get hired in nursing homes. I believe they are not set up to care for people outside of nursing home patients. I had definite orthopedic issues. I would not recommend them for patients like me with recovery issues from a MVA. Again it is worth repeating my physical therapist and occupational therapist were top notch.
