The building is beautiful, the level and consistency of care is horrific.

My mom has been at The Blake since November and it has been nothing but life changing for her and our family. The staff are exceptional and go out of their way for her. Jennifer and Sue have been great additions. My mother was very resistant to make a move and she is happy to be at The Blake. If your loved one needs assisting living please look here and let Jennifer help you with the move.

My mom has been living at the Blake since Nov 22, 2019. The staff was very welcoming and attentive to her needs. My mom was very nervous and anxious about the move and everyone at the Blake made her feel right at home. My mom likes the food and there are activities that everyone can enjoy. Any questions or concerns I had were always answered in a timely fashion. If your looking for a place for your Mom or Dad, I would highly recommend the Blake.

Unfortunately a shiny new exterior does not mean the care will be good. I would like to acknowledge the few nurses and CNA's who did take the time to show caring while my family member lived in Assisted Living. But management has some work to do here--and they know it. The food is substandard (I'm being kind ) and despite countless requests to improve it, the arrogant chef continued to serve inedible, often unidentifiable meats that were anything short of nourishing; fried, frozen and unripe seemed to the the dietary standard for what the kitchen served--even fried vegetables--how is that nourishing for anyone, especially seniors? Everything was made from frozen, not purchased fresh and my family member often had violent bodily reactions immediately after a meal. The staffing for caretakers was a revolving door; I recall 7 staff members quitting in one week! Existing caretakers were told to train new ones. Caretakers were assigned to so many residents and they were often short-staffed and frankly out of compliance. When they were short -handed they would have one or two staff to 25-30 residents. Their phone system went out so many times that it was scary and unsafe. Their executive director at the time is now gone, but she was usually unavailable and radiated a lack of caring. The activities were pathetic. This place isn't about giving your parents a dignified end-of-life ---they're about the money. We have moved my family member to a place where I can sleep at night knowing she is looked in on frequently, fed quality meals, and offered many opportunities to engage others in a menu of social activities and outings. I truly hope The Blake will improve, but we chose to move our family member out --and I suggest you don't move yours in until they get their act together.

I highly recommend the Blake. Rooms are new, staff are great and really are organized and friendly. My mom loves it and I feel great to leave her in good hands.
