I cant say enough disheartening things about this facility, from a family member perspective and from someone who works in LTC. If I had known Elmcroft was for-profit I never would have put family there from the beginning. Theyve been on a provisional license and it has not been lifted. The amount of guilt on my shoulders knowing my loved one is stuck here is unexplainable. I have been trying for WEEKS to get ahold of a staff member via phone and every single time you call, no matter what time of day, youre lucky if someone picks up after 5 entire minutes of waiting (trust me Ive kept track). And if someone does finally pick up, you will then wait another 5 minutes until someone in heartland Village answers, just to be rushed off the phone. But after probably 20 times of trying just this past few weeks I give up. So there is no one to voice your grievances to and no paper forms available. No matter how many times you tell a nurse or aide your contact info and to please reach out you when your loved one falls or anything notable happens, you will hear nothing. Over a year ago an aide on heartland Village never even reported a major fall with my loved one and told me he just lowered them to the floor and that it was nothing to be worried about. This was AFTER I had to ask the staff what happened. They were not going to tell me at all to begin with. They were in searing pain, unable to move, covered in bruises for two weeks. Id never felt so helpless before watching my loved one go through such a thing. I will have to tell aides my loved one needs changed (when its insanely obvious and their linens are soaked) and theyll say hmm yeah I thought I smelled urine so why didnt you CHANGE THEM?!? Ignorance at its finest. Next- They have not had an activities staff member for heartland Village for well over a year. These residents receive absolutely no stimulation and not a single thing on their activities calendar happens. This has contributed greatly to my loved ones decline. I have had to pay money, or bring in my own supplies from my employers departments, to engage my loved one. Staff continuously yell at them and tell them to get in their room. They wonder why theyre causing mischief..because they have no choices but to stare at the walls day and night. It is dark, dingy, and depressing down there. They have no lights in their living room creating a fall hazard. The window screens are constantly laying on the ground outside instead of being put in the window properly for safety, which the state has cited them for. Moving on- My loved one receives ONE silverware spoon sized serving of fruit with their dinner and this is supposed to be considered a nutritious meal. They do not offer substitutes when they see a resident has no interest in the meal theyre given, or is confused by it (due to dementia) they take their plate away instead and call it a day. This is just a few of the ongoing unresolved grievances I have with Elmcroft. I had never been more disappointed by all aspects of a facility. SO so saddening.

I had my mom here for 2 weeks in Jan 2019. On MLK day I came to visit to find the aide asleep in bed when I arrived. Residents were left unsupervised. I agree with other reviews that you can't get through on the phone. My mom's room was filthy. A new activity person was hired and was wonderful but quit 2 weeks after she started. My mom fell one morning. Her entire face was bruised, she broke 2 ribs and had bruises all over her side. No one could tell me what happened. Needless to say on MLK day I went looking for a new place. I removed my mom 4 days later and she is now in a safe, caring environment. I reported them to Area on aging, wrote a detailed letter with pictures of my mom's injuries and sent it to Elmcroft Administration. I have been watching reviews too see if they made changes. Looks like they haven't. Please take some deep consideration before you place your loved one there.

1/2018 I moved my grandmother in, place was clean, full of residence, well cared for, there was an activity director, food was semi good and communication was decent. After staff and director changes NO activity director or activities ( yes they have a calendar -- fake) Food is no so good, place is dirty ( shoes stick to the cafeteria floor), residence are in bed all day and occupancy has reduced to half. The director does not return calls or emails. Skill levels on several residence was raised (no extra care was needed). Myself and a few other residence families believe they raised the skill level to cover the cost of the loss of occupancy and cover the overhead. I feel bad for the residence and also the staff that does try very hard to care for the patience but corporation cut cost and are running a company not a care facility!
