My Grandfather was admitted for interim care between hospital and home. The nurse dropped his cotton swab with alcohol while cleaning his IV on the floor, picked it up and continued using it. The IV was left without the cap on it to prevent contamination. When he requested a cap, they replied we don't use them. The water given to him was from the sink the room. The same sinks that due to leaning forward contain dirty water. The room wasn't cleaned his entire stay of 8 days. He ended up having to be admitted from there back to the hospital with a severe Staph infection, Mersa.

My elderly mother was an Alzheimer's patient and completely helpless. It was a difficult decision to pass her care over to a facility, but our resources were exhausted. We did a lot of research and talked with folks in the same family situation. We knew that we wanted a place with caring and effective staff first and foremost - not necessarily the elegantly designed areas, spacious hallways, or gourmet meals used to market facilities to the families. We found what mom needed at Pennsburg. She was there for 9 months, and during that time, her skin remained intact and healthy. She was fed patiently by the staff. She was comfortable. We were given updates on her appetite, activity level, and frame of mind. The aides were cheerful, efficient, and gentle. Compared to most of the other places I visited, staff was quite visible and always responsive. Finally, the administrative staff at Pennsburg was so helpful when I had to apply for Medic-Aid. They coached me in procuring the necessary paperwork, and made the submission as simple as possible. This is a stressful chore, and they were so knowledgeable and kind.I will always be very grateful to the good people at Pennsburg for their professionalism, care and dedication.

My mother is currently a patient. Since my mother had to be admitted using Medicare as we don't have the funds to self-pay, I am pretty much happy with her care. I have found that some of the younger, less experienced aides can be less attentive. But overall, my mother seems content as well as she can be with dementia.

This facility takes great care of my mother Frances. My father visits her everyday and always raves about how good they treat my mother. This is nice to hear and I am glad she is in good hands. Thank you very much to all the staff, it means a lot to me and my family.

The staff are very nice but a bit understaffed. My Father is a resident and he is given considerable care by all. The facility could use updating but serves its purpose well.
