Worked here for about 9 months, I would not recommend leaving your family members here as there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes with the upper management that most customers and residents do not get to see. However all the staff do work very hard, mostly because they are caring and empathetic people at the end of the day and even when staff gets mistreated and underpaid (Especically ECU who goes the extra mile) we know at the end of the day this is about the people we take care of feeling cared about and that they are receiving adequate and proper care, which is why they get away with it so easily and so often! The residents here are also wonderful people, the head of the kitchen needs to change his attitude big time. His behavior while I was working there was pretty bad and since I have left I have heard that his actions and behavior has only gotten worse. It was my understanding that part of the issue was that he was severely overworked but he also needs to take more responsibility himself. My last grievance with this place is the head of the kitchen and manager were always fighting and blaming eachother for the reasons why the place is struggling so much. It felt like I was witnessing my parents divorce again. Felt like they were always trying to one-up eachother when they were equally to blame for the day to day issues that go on here. turnover is high but that's not because the job is difficult, its because the management needs to clean up their act.

We came here for a tour and really liked the place. It is nestled in behind a quiet strip mall and a quiet neighborhood. There is an underground parking garage to get out in a dry place. We unfortunately couldn't see a room because the gal doing our tour didn't have a key. We were impressed with the open areas and the areas residents could hang out if they weren't wanting to be in their rooms. The grounds are all flat so residents could go out for a bit without much risk. The residents looked happy and well cared for and the place was very clean.

Full disclosure: I have worked for RHAL in the past. However, I have worked at many facilities in the Portland area and I can honestly say that Ive never seen staff that genuinely care so much. I would put a loved one there, and I dont think I could say that about any place else.

Hard to find parking. But a great place to work!
