No problem with staff, I did not ask ALL THE QUESTIONS I might hav

Our mom has been here for 4 years. It started out great, then the good managers and chef left. Turnover in staff is frequent. A new corporation bought it and now everything is even more about saving money, instead of providing for residents needs. For example, there are few no carb/sugar meal options for diabetics. The current chef doesn't care. Everyone says their hands are tied when changes or improvements are requested. If things don't improve we will be moving her soon. Rent has continued to increase and services decline. This is sad because the facility itself is very nice and well situated in Oregon.UPDATE: Mom passed away in Feb just after we gave 30 days notice. We cleaned out her apartment and had it checked off as fine before the end of the month. THE COMPANY IS REFUSING TO REFUND HER DEPISIT and keeps coming up with bogus reasons. I.e: First they said we did not give notice when we proved we did. Then they said she owes back rent, which she did not. Then they said they had no record of us cleaning the apartment. Then once we get it straight with one manager, someone new comes in and the amnesia sets in again. Or the main office says no one ever sent the paperwork. It's been 3.5 months. The local employees there are trying, but the system's only goal is how much money they can make. This is a sad state of affairs for a once lovely community.

The team at Astor House has done an amazing job managing through the situation with COVID-19. The General Manager (Charlie) and Sale Person (Bridget) showed a high level of empathy, passion, and concern for insuring their residents and staff had their needs taken care of and concerns addresses. Great job working through a challenging time.
