My mom lives at the beautiful Ocean View Memory Care facility in Brookings, OR. This place is run by people that are as lovely as they come. What a great crew, kind and upbeat, and very conscious of those in their care and their needs. The dining is 5 star and the food beautifilly presented. This is a top-o-the-line care facility. What a lovely thing to know my mom is safe, secure, and well-cared for in this happy, super clean, good smelling, and beautiful environment!

I have my mother in their care and i have read all reviews on the place and i have to say that since the new people have taken over things were to change for the best and i find that it has not.I went and got my mother and drove 3 hours to get her and have her at my house for a few days and find out that some of her medication were not with her.I called the nurse and the other person who are ahead of this care homeand they tole me to come and get it the medication that they forgot to send with her and i said i can not it is a three hour ride for me and i will hold the m responable for her eyes and they tole me they would not be responable because they said i can come and get it even if i had to drive back to brooking for 3 hours.I'am sorry but they do not get a 5 star from me.They just took over around the first of the year.Dr Petel owened it in 2015 when the reviews were written and i have other problems their as well . If i could fine her another place i would but it is very hard.So i feel they get one star and they don't deserve that star.

WARNING! Do not send your loved one to this facility. We just returned from spending 3 days there with a dear friend. We were beyond appalled! Urine smells waif through the halls and escape through the open doors of the 'private' rooms. Neither green salads nor fresh vegetables are included in the meal planning. Instead, stool softeners are handed out as part of the daily med dispensing ritual. The small Ocean Park van is covered with cobwebs, and has been broken for some time, depriving residents of outings into the beautiful world beyond their prison walls. On the second day of our visit we spent 8 hours in the facility. The experience offered a gut-wrenching glimpse into what a normal weekday looks like for residents (something you wouldnt wish on your worst enemy). We observed no activities taking place - though advertised on the 'activity board'. Residents spent their day slumped in chairs or walking around aimlessly, by themselves, quite comatose. There was no social interaction between residents or residents and staff. When we inquired about getting a game to play or for coloring/art supplies we were told that only the Activity Director could access those items. Unfortunately, the Activity Director never materialized. In the meantime, the Executive Director was uninviting, cold and clearly threatened by our presence. At the end of the horrific 3-day experience I can assure you with certainty that Ocean Park Memory Care residents are being warehoused in a dismal and despicable environment. If you love someone you don't want them to end up there. Even though Brookings is in a great location, these residents miss out on all the charm because they're locked up in what our dear friend described as an 'extended outhouse'. It's tragic that anyone has to spend their last chapter in a sad place like this.

This is a poor place to put someone you love into, they are unprofessional and don't care about there residents the way they should. Pushing them around and taking food off there plates and having them sleep on floors is not okay. I hope they get investigated.
