Of the nine communities I visited in preparation of my dad and I choosing one that was 'right' for him Beaverton Hills (BH) is unique in many ways.Location, location, location I am not speaking of location within the Beaverton area, but instead the placement within surrounding conducive to life. BH is sandwiched between a commercial street with restaurants and shops and a public 'nature' park with a path shrouded with trees. This invites able residents to easily venture beyond the community itself.Architectural design: BH is unique from the nine communities in the Beaverton Area I visited. Rather than an apartment design of wings of individual apartments with dining and activity areas scattered about the facility, BH is a mall design where all the apartments (store fronts) open out to activity centers in the center. All activity centers are on the ground floor, appropriately arranged and separated from each other. There are no activity centers of the 2nd floor, instead there are walkways over looking the first floor activity centers. The open feeling and use of open wood beam construction are simple and stunning without being pretentious. The large apartment size and efficient layout, all at a moderate price, far exceeded anything I found other places. The front door opens to spacious living area which includes a window to the common area, in the mid-section a bath and kitchen, and to the rear a large bedroom with a door and a rear facing window to outside. Simple, spacious and efficient. Thus, independent of the staff, just the physical placement and interior design is conducive to encourage independence, exploration and social interaction. This is a huge plus over anything else I had seen, which were in contrast mere assistant living hotels a place, where personally, I would visit but not choose to live in.I visited BH four times (together with my dad twice) before making a final decision. My dad chose BH because 1) it offered a large ground floor one-bedroom apartment, 2) a feeling of a welcoming community, 3) more than adequate food (the meal I shared with him was excellent; best clam chowder I ever had), and 4) of necessity. All the facilities offer similar point system for costs above a base rate as assistant needs increase. In all my visits both the management staff were efficient, genuine, courteous and friendly; I got a feeling of a well run, in-control team working together. The tenants seemed content and staff were approachable and amenable. One exchange that characterizes what I experienced was when I commented to the activity director, that changing the monthly theme decorations, which were incredible and extensive, must consume a lot of his time. He said, not at all when the times comes I have lots of volunteer help from the residents and we get the job done quickly.Nothing overstated and everything a senior needs to satisfy both independence and social interaction can be found a BH.

We have had our step-mom at Beaverton Hills for nine (9+) years now. Though the staffing and level of service has varied over those years, the new management, Prestige, who took over the management about a year or so ago, has been great to work with. They have increased the number of outings available to residents, have set up holiday breakfasts for friends and family, and, the rent and service charges have been reasonable and justified.

I would like to thank the staff at Beaverton Hills Assisted Living for making my father's transition from his home to assisted living a positive step in his life's journey. Integration between resident, family and staff is seamless. I can always count on them to stay on top of his health needs. Between the social director and medical staff, my father's mind and body are being well-nourished.
