Our money hungry relatives who placed my Grandfather in law in this place had the staff instructed to leave us out of the loop on our own Grandfather. Grandpa begged me to get him his car keys from his house so he could escape back home but I wasnt familiar enough with legal ramifications to do so. His bathroom was a chamber pot in the middle of a chair. The staff dragged him away to a shower though he had no evidence of needing one. His food had overcooked vegetables. My grandfather was good hearted and quiet although he was from the Archy Bunker generation. One woman in the hallway would cry all day for coca-cola that she wasnt allowed. I can say that one of the orderlies was sympathetic.

My mom was placed a month ago today. She has extreme special medical needs that requires 24/7 attention. They staff its EXTREMELY helpful. Starting with Melissa the administrator, the nurses, all the way to laundry, aids and volunteers. We attended a meeting with other families of residents and the only complaint (suggestion) was if someone would help put in and take out her father's hearing aids, so he doesn't loose them and can hear her when she calls. Any time I have asked for help on anything, they have done there best to accommodate. They have gone above and beyond helping me get her settled. If she is not at bingo they go get her. I am there almost everyday at all different times. I have a very high sense of smell, and the only time I have really smelt much in the home is in the mornings, but it looked like hotel check out. I was pleasantly surprised to see they were VERY busy with cleaning carts everywhere. Mopping, cleaning people, and changing linens. Before placing her, I visited others and left there crying. This place is small and older, but I believe the quality of care given is AMAZING. I have sat in the dining area and watched them feed the people that need help. They all seem to have great patience and love with everyone. It is a tough job and takes very special people to work in this field. No one wants to move their loved ones away from their homes, but I trust the staff completely.
Tough luck -
