RUN AWAY! Ohio Living Quaker Heights in Waynesville is dirty and smelly. IMO the residents don't get the help they need to be safe. The nursing director did not want to hear our concerns about resident safety, lack of care, lack of cleanliness, staff laziness, etc. . She quickly shut us down, asked us to leave and told us the reason for the stench, falls, etc was because of our loved one's behavior. People with dementia NEED HELP and this facility is being paid very well to provide that help but they are seriously missing the mark. If you are considering placing a loved one here, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere.

My mother was recently at the rehab part of the facility for about 10 days. According to their brochure, she was in the 'luxury suite', but it was actually very basic. While the physical therapy sessions were of high quality, the patient care in the room was not. The staff was slow to respond to requests, and we felt like one of the nurses was always on the verge of going into some kind of a rage. One of the aides was verbally abusive to my mom, and did things like refuse to get her a blanket when she was cold. My mom said the food was very bad, not just in taste, but in quality. All of the the vegetables were overcooked and mushy. Their brochure says the meals are 'nutritious', but all of the nutrition was cooked out of the food. My Mom compared the quality of the food to soup kitchen or prison food. My guess is they are on a very tight budget both for food and staff, and it shows. My Mom did complain to a social worker there about the staff member who was abusive, and he seemed to take the complaint seriously, but my Mom said she would not go back to this facility if she has a need in the future. She is 90 years old and I would not feel good about here being there again.
