Please do not send your love one to the unclean place that smells of death and depression. My uncle was a rehab patient there 2019. The care there is substandard. The rooms and the carpet have urine stains. The beds and chairs all have some unreconizable stains. STNA's lie about helping the patients. They mark down the care that they give patients. This is called medicare fraud. My family have reported them to medicare. The Nursing staff is not knowledgable when it comes to giving medication. The state should close this place down. The doctor of physical therapy does not come to assess patients. My uncle has a rare disease that the doctor and staff were made aware of this condition. The doctor of Therapy is incompate at best.He ordered exercises that are counter indicated for my uncles condition. This further damaged my uncle and caused him to have a difficult recovery. Once my family complained to Medicare Brookdale cut his therapy short even thought he could not even walk up the steps to his apartment. Brookdale just steals patients money. My uncle could walk and drive safely before this hospitalization , just to give you a baseline. DO NOT PLACE YOUR LOVE ONE HERE IF YOU WANT THEM TO LIVE.

Total waste. My fiance was placed there with specific doctors orders regarding being turned in bed and bandage changes. They made no reasonable attempt to comply with orders. Bandages stayed on for days. Took 4 hours to get a glass of water. It would take hours to get someone to respond to the call light. Meanwhile, all the providers are standing around the nurses desk chit chatting. I was 5 minutes away from calling Richmond Heights police to get her some water. GOT HER OUT ASAP. Food was disgusting. Served ice cold, aids whinned when you asked to have it reheated. An aid took her dinner to reheat, came back an hour later empty handed, claimed her dinner was stolen from the microwave. I doubt that happened...

My aunt lived here for three years, and a friend of hers is still there after FIVE years....plus another friend of mine had her mother in the dementia unit. A younger friend was in the rehab section after a broken leg. So I know this facility very, very well.It is atrociously run and grossly mismanaged by INCOMPETENTS. The food is inedible. The building my aunt resided in -- Cottage #4 -- was overrun with bedbugs from 2014 through 2015, which the management HID from family and threatened staff NOT TO TELL family about. It looks fine, and they will tour you through the REHAB building (#3) which is nicer, and has better food (by their own admission, 'because Medicare pays more than private pay'). They will give you a tour meal THERE, but the food in Assisted Living/Dementia Care is vastly inferior steam table slop, and they run out of things, and do not have what is on the MENUS most of the time. Good luck trying to get your loved one coffee...soda...ice cream...even yogurt. They have ONE minibus for roughly 120 residents, meaning they PROMISE to take residents to doctor/dentist appointments, and on weekly trips to stores, shopping, restaurants, but this is a LIE. My aunt once went for 4 months without a single outing, because 'the bus wasn't working'. My friend in 'Clarebridge Crossing' (a locked-down dementia unit in Bldg #5) has never left the building even one time, except to see her eye doctor -- in six months. If you complain...nice young women staffers will nod sympathetically and make promises -- or falsely claim stuff is being done to fix problems -- and nothing is ever fixed. At first I wondered if the problems with my relative were unique -- or I was just crabby -- but since I NOW know several people who have been there, with different diagnoses, in rehab -- Assisted Living -- AND dementia care -- and all have the SAME STORIES of inedible food, broken promises, unclean conditions, short-staffing, lack of follow up on medical care, etc....it isn't just me, folks. It's BROOKDALE. Please do not send your loved one to this place. My greatest fear is that I end up here myself in old age.

Horrible Place To Work ! I worked in the rehab building for a year and I had the worst experience ever ! I literally dreaded going to work everyday. First there is no staff, meaning itll be be 38 or more residents/ patients and only two aides working. The nurses are lazy , they sit on their butt all day until its time for med pass , and expect you to do everything with short staff and they dont help you at all. They have patients waiting for meds and dont even care. All they do is gossip like its high school and sit at the nurses station. The DON Amie and the assistant DON Shardae are full of themselves. They both are unprofessional and argumentative . Real ghetto ! I would have thought since this is a black ran facility they would at least try an act a bit more professional and not fit into the standard . The only reason I stayed as long as I did was because of the pay. Please do not send your family members there ! The lack of care is insane. If your thinking about working here please apply at your own risk.
