Great place! Noticed new renovations and its so convenient that they have in house therapy and dialysis. Everywhere you look theres a smiling face. Staff, residents and family are all known well by even upper heads in facility, which stood out to me. Administrator is hands on and the commitment and dedication she has for the job and company shows its not just a job to her, she has her whole heart in it. Wonderful place all around. Definitely recommend!

This post is long, but definitely worth reading if youre considering sending a parent/grandparent here! You need to know! My grandmother was here for about a year a half and she went to the hospital more times during that time than in her entire life. I dont know if this place is understaffed or just doesnt care about the people in their care; either way I wouldnt never recommend this place to anyone. Going into Summa, my mom was told that there was a strict diabetic diet and that the first 100 days are free. Now, after my grandmas passing almost a year ago, my mom is trying to get the money back from those 100 days that she was promised, however they are now saying she owes them over double that amount (which she doesnt and was fulfilled by Medicare). Throughout my grandmas year and a half there, my mom wrote letters and went in every week requesting a copy of the contract and, to this day, she has not received one. Wonder why... At one point, my grandma had to go to the hospital because she somehow managed to get out of her own bed (with an alarm that sounds when theres no pressure on it) most likely waited for someone to take her to the restroom, and ended up falling on the other side of her room and hitting her head on the dresser, then needing stitches when no one came. Another time, they took her to the hospital because her foot was randomly bleeding and they thought someone ran over it, but they werent sure. Another note able incident was when my mom took my grandma to the doctors and her blood sugar was extremely high! She was diabetic so it was very concerning and had never been recorded that high throughout her whole history of having diabetes. My grandma had to pay a significant amount of money for new blood pressure medication for a few months until my mom found out that Summa was giving her apple juice (which has a ton of sugar). Some strict diabetic diet! What my grandma experienced here was pure neglect and she suffered during her last year of life because of it. I truly believe that Summas staffs neglect of my grandmothers well-being caused her to pass earlier than she should have; when I saw here during the first few months, and even 7 months into being there, she was as strong as ever and that changed extremely quickly. Imagine the harm of all of that sugar and then adding stronger medication on top of it! Now, after all of this, theyre requesting that we pay them MORE money when they actually owe us money. They put my family through these unnecessary struggles as a result of their neglect, and they cant even hold up their end of the contract. I sincerely hope that this was just my familys experience here, but I truly dont think it is.

Poor patient care. Very under staffed. Had a very good nurse and now she left due to poor conditions.. Administrator has no clue what she is doing. There's even a residents wife doing stna work that is not on payroll..
