My parents have only been there a short time but really are enjoying themselves. The facility is kept beautifully and the people are all very friendly and helpful. They care. They are very careful to protect against the virus yet are providing many safe activities. They are also awesome with the families visiting. They were so nice to us. Overall they make the experience for everyone as enjoyable as possible.

I highly recommend the Primrose Retirement Community in Lima, Ohio. My 94 year old mother has lived there in an assisted living apartment for 18 months. She moved there when memory impairment affected playing bridge, taking her meds, meal prep, managing money, attending church, remembering appointments. In her last two years at home, she was mildly depressed, but feared that a senior community would mean loss of independence and privacy. Finally, after two serious illnesses, Mom agreed to move, but only to Primrose which felt more lively and cheerful than other places we visited. Primrose was also one of the few facilities we toured where our mom was able to meet the administrator (Jason Risner) and where the marketing director (Ashley Heaphy) kept in touch with her after our first visit, but never pressured her. My mom loves to decorate and Jason and Ashley listened to her, assured her that she could paint her apartment, bring her plants, and not be pressured to attend activities. Although they told her that she would be missing out on good entertainment. In Mom's last month at home, she changed her mind about moving several times, suffered anxiety attacks and lost weight. Jason and Ashley assured her and us that these reactions were normal. This reassurance and patience were exactly what Mom needed. Her move-in and adjustment period went well. Today Mom says she should have moved sooner. She plays cards, attends chapel, crafts, concerts, and pizza parties. Her memory loss has increased some, but she is more relaxed, happier and perkier. And her immunity and blood pressure issues have both improved. Life is easier for our family too. The nursing staff handles moms medications and communicates with her physicians as needed, her meals are prepared, her laundry is done, and free transport to her salon is available when family cant take her. The key staff at Primrose are readily assessable to family. The Activity Director knows the residents quite well and the interests of each one. The laundry coordinator knows my moms specific laundry instructions. A last observation is that the Primrose residents themselves are an upbeat community and supportive of one another. Many residents say that stress-free living is a major benefit of Primrose living. Yes, Primrose, like all good Assisted Living Facilities, is expensive. However, Moms expenses at home increased rapidly every yearmuch more household help (often not reliable or respectful), mismanaged money, many more medical visits, ect. Primrose Assisted Living apartments do meet the requirements for a substantial veterans benefit. The application process is tricky, but Jason referred me to a VA certified attorney who was reasonably priced and saved me weeks of paperwork and headaches. For elders and families considering a move, I suggest visiting several times, getting to know the administrator, observing some activities, and asking if your elder can meet some of the residents. Also ask questions about the specific services your elder needs.

My father and our family decided to move my Dad closer to where I live. After looking at different assisted living communities we decided to rent an apartment at Primrose. The rooms are nicely laid out. The bathrooms are well laid out and the dining room was designed for people to have conversations in and hear each other. It is has a wonderful family atmosphere. The staff have been wonderful with my father and communicate well with me on any needs or concerns. It is a place I would recommend and do recommend to families.

Mom and Dad moved in a few years ago when neither was able to drive anymore. Moving to Primrose allowed them both to retire (ie. Dad had long since retired, but now Mom didn't need to cook anymore..good food was right down the hall). Both could still be active and social. The staff are great there and very caring. I stay with them when I visit, it's nice and simple to stay with them in their own apartment home, with there own furniture and meet their new friends (who are pretty great by the way...).
