Smoky Mountain Health and Rehabilitation Center

I was admitted April 25, 2019 with a light stroke. I chose this center and I am glad I did! All of my concerns have been handled in a prompt professional manner. The excellent staff, the dedicated therapists - I felt took a personal interest to see that my needs as well as my wants were addressed; even remembering my hot tea at night and my love of salads. When an emergency arose, all staff quickly responded, monitoring me all night to be certain that I was okay, not just taking my word for it. This impressed me greatly.The extra things that didn't have to be done - the raised vegetable garden outside my window, the music, the table cloths, napkins, and flowers in the dining room, for example. All of these things say WE LOVE YOU, think you are special, and want you to be happy here - and I have been!!! Many thanks to everyone!LoveHattie B. Polk

I would like to share my experience with Smokey Mountain Nursing /Rehab facility. We noticed right away this place is short of help . We have been to many nursing homes / rehab places over the years and this one by far has the rudest staff ever ! We would ask for help with my 84 year old Mother only to be ignored . One of the staff members even turned her back and walked away before we even finished speaking . They spoke to my Mother and our family very rudely . This is unacceptable from people we trusted to care for our loved ones . They never come to check on Mother when she pressed her call button . We timed them one day and it was over 45 minutes , and we finally just had to find them ourselves. They served my Mother soup that was scalding hot , and if we hadnt been with her she couldve gotten burned badly . Obviously they dont check the temperature of the food they serve the patients . Mom fell a couple of times while at this facility and we werent notified until hours later, even though we asked to be informed of any incident. We often wonder how long our Mother yelled for help before they came to help her . Mother couldnt even get help with her basic needs like going to bathroom. She had gotten really bad constipated and suffered for days before they gave her something to make her bowels move , even though we asked them to give her something over and over .They didnt give her a bath the entire time she was at this facility , we had to do it . This facility is a disgrace and should be investigated for neglect . I DO NOT recommend this facility , and I suggest if anyone has family in this facility to check on them often , because the staff will not! We will be filing a complaint with the State .

My stepdad was transferred here and has been treated horribly. He has been left in a wet bed and wet clothes, has sores. No one comes in to take him to the bathroom or even get him out of bed. My mom Basically takes care of him herself. She hasn't seen or talked to a doctor. When she has asked for help, the nurses just look at her and do not. They are too busy playing on their phones. My came yesterday and my stepdad was nowhere to be found and they had no clue where he was. My mom had to go find him. We were there over 3 hours today and not one nurse came in to check on him. This is just unacceptable!
