My mother was there for approximately month in September . As my moms healthcare power of attorney I reached out to physician assistant staff 7 times during months stay. I received 2 phone calls the last of which was day of her discharge and 3 days prior to my moms death. I visited multiple times during her stay but never saw her physician or Physician assistant staff in person during her stay. I asked to speak with Social Worker about discharge plan weekly but spoke with her only once during stay. Later was told she was leaving her position and not available. I was told the Nursing supervisor was covering after several calls by when I finally got in touch , she had no idea of what discharge plan or disposition was. Ultimately was told my mother had used up her medicare days and was now self pay. During this time she was not gotten out of bed or assisted with meals causing worsening debilitating problems ultimately causing ER admission. I cannot say anything positive about this institution. As a healthcare professional myself for 37 years I have never experienced worse oversight and general care. If you care for your loved one I highly advise you to seek any facility other than Quaihaven rehab!Updated today 1/27/20 As above my mother used up all her Medicare days and became self-pay. My father paid for a week in addition out-of-pocket on the day notified . Three days later my mother was admitted to the emergency room from Quail Haven. She ultimately died a few days later.My mother only used three days out of the seven paid by my father out-of-pocket therefore he was due a refund. When we questioned we were repeatedly told that they had to allow Medicare to pay out before they could reimburse the out-of-pocket amount and would take 90 days. 90 days came and went. I called the regional office and finally got a response. I was told that a check would be issued.Just this week over four months after being discharged from Quail Haven we received a check that was made out to my mother who has been deceased for four months. Therefore My father is unable to cash the check.This in spite of the fact that we had notified Pinehurst Quail Haven and regional quail Halen on multiple times that my mother had passed away.My father and I have made multiple phone calls to regional Quail Haven with no return phone call.Our experiences with Quail Haven have been an absolute nightmare and beyond deplorable and continue to be so on every level! Shameful!!
