I recently visited my aunt and did not care for Grace Heights at all. When I first went in there were several workers there and not one greeted us or asked if we needed any help. There was water on the hall floors in several places from the A/C leaking and once my sister and I pointed it out to different people they said they would get it but didnt put any wet floor signs there to keep someone from falling.I asked 2 people for paper towels for my aunts restroom and the next day it was still empty. The weekend nurse was nice and helpful, but the weekday nurses were not. One tore her skin trying to take her blood pressure even though my aunt told her she was hurting her. She also has a large red place on her rear from what appears to be a bedsore.

My mom is a patient there and had swollen ankles and calf's that needed to be elevated. Her chair footrest could only be raised by another person. After her roommate left I moved a chair that had a lever that allowed my mom to raise the footrest when she wished. However the other chair had no support in the seat and you could feel the springs when you say down. I reported to the head of nursing who replaced the chair with one that also had to be raised by another person. Couple days later the bad chair was in another room occupied by a lady who used her wheelchair to sit in and did not use the bad chair. Reported to the Administrator and requested she sit in that chair to see for herself the terrible condition of that chair and she refused. Musical chairs and continued neglect of other patients. Additionally CNAs did not keep fresh cool water for her to drink. Gonna call their corporate office and Action 9 News and report the Administrator.

I know several people who have stayed at Grace Heights for rehab and the service has been exemplary. The staff are always helpful and caring. I needed their service for a friend and called over the weekend and was very pleased that the administrator was able to work with an out of town hospital to ensure a smooth transition for my friend. I am so thankful she was able to help my friend.

My grandmother was at Grace Heights. I watched staff take the time, effort & patience with her progressing dementia to get her medications taken. I watched staff laugh with her & listen to her stories of times past. I watched staff have sadness fill their hearts when she took her last breath. I think we can all fall short and look for the worst but I know without a doubt Grace Heights is filled with the best!

Just a word of wisdom. I have known the staff at Grace Heights for 22 years. I have seen the banners on the property for ' Best in Burke' for Grace Heights. There is a reason for that. I have been in ALL of the other nursing homes in Burke County and there is ample proof that Grace Heights gains that rating of Best in Burke. I am aware that no place is perfect and that there are mistakes made everywhere. The staff and the administration at Grace Heights are the best in the business. The administrator has the respect of all of her staff, and they work to make Grace Heights the best. If I have the privilege of living to a ripe old age, Grace Heights is where I want to be.
