The staff at the Amsterdam have been nothing short of amazing since our mother moved into Independent Living back in 2014. Her transition into Memory Care, a few years ago, was facilitated by a caring, professional, and positive team which was lead at the time by the now Director of the Amsterdam. She and her colleagues have walked the walk with our mother and my family and did everything possible to ease the move which was unfortunately necessary. While every resident adjusts to these life altering changes differently, it was apparent from day one that my mother was being cared for by some truly remarkable people. A brief stay in the Rehab facility in the Tuttle Center also revealed a fantastic group of healthcare workers who were welcoming and engaging throughout her stay. The hallmark of any successful enterprise is open communication and the feedback we have received has been and continues to be excellent. Any questions or concerns are responded to quickly, usually within minutes or just a few hours. During this horrendous pandemic, the front line Aides, Nurses, Recreation Directors, Case Managers and Management team have proven over and over again what it means to be the best in the industry! And, while you can teach anyone to do a job, you can't teach them to care. Thank you, most of all, for doing what you do, and for caring day in and day out. We are forever grateful for your many acts of kindness and the countless ones of which we are not aware. With esteem and affection. May God bless you all....

The Amsterdam at Harborside is a great place to enjoy an active life after retirement and it also has an added bonus The Tuttle Center which I will describe later. My wife and I can find something to do every day. We can enjoy the pool and gym, attend lectures and musical entertainments, go to happy hour, do a little yoga or tai chi, join a card group, etc. And if we want to start up some other activity, we can do that too. We also enjoy dinner time (a meal plan is part of the package) because it is like one big family at The Amsterdam and we get to eat with different people every night. Now, Ill talk about that bonus, the Tuttle Center. It is part of the complex and offers a full range of health facilities which are available to residents of the Amsterdam, and all of it is available at no extra charge. For instance, if you break some bones while still an active resident, the Tuttle Center which is attached will take care of the rehab. And your spouse and friends can visit you often since it just requires walking through a door. Two years ago I did some rehab time in the Tuttle, and I got to know first-hand the value it offers. No matter what happens in the future, it is reassuring to us to realize that all of the services of the Tuttle including assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care and hospice will be there for us and at no extra charge. In the meantime, we can relax and enjoy The Amsterdam. An update 5 years later June 13, 2020 The pandemic has obviously slowed us down a bit, but I must say that the staff has done a remarkable job (as usual) of keeping the virus under control and introducing new programs like Zoom to keep us connected. It will be great to get back to using the dining room, but in the meantime, the folks in the kitchen have done a remarkable job of getting meals delivered to our rooms. On top of that, our new chef really knows how to make it all very tasty.

Ever since the COVID outbreak happened, the staff at The Amsterdam have been on top of the situation, providing crucial leadership and informed communication. They have taken, and continue to take, a very sensible approach to protecting our parents and all residents under their care, while still arranging for support staff and crucially needs aides to help during this most stressful time. This situation can be very disorienting and depressing for anyone, especially the elderly who benefit so much from usual social contact. Thank you to the administrative, dining room, and maintenance/housekeeping staff who have selflessly kept the Amsterdam functioning so well.

Our mother has been there for 5 years and we are so thankful for all the wonderful support and amazing staff they have. Now more than ever, we are so grateful she is there and being cared for.
