I volunteer every Friday. I miss the Kanebs and the good food, and traditions and good vibes of the late great Bev Bolster. She was activity director for over 2 decades. Her successor was excellent too. She resigned when a corporation bought the place January 2019 and now there are locks on doors, you have to be let in and out: only staff know the codes.

As a new employee I have to say this nursing home by Far is the best I have worked in. As an agency nurse I have seen many and Highland has surpassed my expectations. The housekeeping staff does an exceptional job at ensuring that cleanliness is a top priority and their commitment to their job shows. The kitchen staff does an exceptional job at serving the greatest meals that are made with love and the menu choice is geared towards satisfying the residents and their likes, while ensuring an atmosphere of calm pleasantness. The office staff are so pleasant and helpful, they take the time to assist you and give you the most accurate and up to date information they have available. The nursing staff does what they are suppose to do, they provide excellent care and this is evident by the lack of call bells ringing. They are caring and loving in a genuine way which is what the residence need from those they entrust with their well-being. To work in a nursing home in any capacity is not easy and its sad that people will focus on how out dated a place is, how it smells or how staff is unfriendly when in actuality for all the negative things people find they miss the fact that the residence are safe, cared for and loved. Its so easy to drag a nursing home and its staff based on its skin, but if you actually got to s the flesh of what goes on at Highland Nursing home you may not be so quick to pass judgement and realize just how much love, commitment and care is given to its residents. I am proud to be employed by Highland Nursing Home, where changes are coming in the interest of its residents. Jamie HolderEmployee 5/2019
