Keepsake Village at Greenpoint

Would not recommend the memory care facility for family members. We paid for prescription management - facility to manage scripts. They would frequently call me and tell me my Dad is out of his blood thinner meds and when was I picking them up. This was a routine mess. They were responsible for his meds. When I would voice that; they would respond; I dont normally work on this side of the floor, I dont know where his meds are. They left my Dad unattended at doctors appt. Mis-managed - we moved him out of there after less than a year.

I recently just put my two weeks in at keepsake village. I dont have a problem with the office or the floors. The residents are treated with care for the most part and I wouldnt tell someone not to leave a loved one at this facility. However I would not recommend others to find employment here, especially in the kitchen. I worked in the kitchen and I had a very rough time with the management in the kitchen. On a few occasions I told my manager I needed more hours. I needed these hours because I Needed to pay my bills. I also have complaints with treatment of the employees in the kitchen. I felt like I was affected during my employment by personal feelings rather than my work. If you ask any workers there I was always very kind and hardworking, but I was rewarded with little hours and not very good treatment. I barely received ten hours a week and could barely pay my bills. Also I would not be asked or consulted before my hours were cut. I would come in and look at the schedule and I would get a few hours for example like 6 hours. This barely would cover my needs and I felt like this was wrong to cut my hours without asking me. There were also workers who were newer and they were getting more hours than me. This brings me to recently where I was threatened with the cops being called on me. I recently put my two weeks in since I was unhappy with my hours and such. I was trying to be very nice about this and not cause a problem. I just wanted to work my last two weeks and get a new job. I had not come in for my last two weeks because I had received 3 hours on my last day. I had a family event and it was more important to me than this shift. I felt hurt that I thought I was doing the right thing and then I got no hours as I was trying to do the right thing by giving the company a heads up before I left. I have been busy with my graduation recently after I left and with my new job opportunity. I have not gotten around to returning my keys that I had during my time at this company. I got a text from management saying they would call the cops on me and report me as stealing their property. I dont think this was very professional and I believe that this treatment should not ever be allowed from someone who is supposed to be a role model such as a manager. I dont want to be disrespectful at all with this message I would just not recommend working at this establishment because I and others have came together and talked about how we felt we were mistreated. Very kind folks at keepsake village. More spacious than competing memory care units. A lot of staff. Clean facility. Good locally sourced food.
