My wife Mary Adams was one of the first to join Legacy 3/1/18. There have been changes in upper management, but for the better. Mary has received excellent care and this still is in place of choice for Mary. By the way, she is in Memory Loss section of Legacy.Update: In March 2018, I placed my wife at the Legacy. She had been diagnosed earlier with dementia and her declining ability to function and escalating behavior made it impossible to continue caring for her. Initially, I was very impressed, however, as the months went by I became increasingly concerned at the lack of communication and frequent turnover of staff. Often on weekends, staffing was severally limited and the concierge was not staffed. Maintenance staff was constantly changing and it took almost three months to get Mary's T.V. hooked up.I was told by staff that Mary was a wonderful resident, except when it came to shower time. She would become extremely aggressive and it took three staff members to handle her. On occasion, they brought the maintenance man into her shower to control her. I was horrified when I heard this. At her new facility, staff explains to Mary why she needs to shower and she cooperates happily. Also, I was in the complete dark as to what medications, therapy and nursing care she was receiving. During the COVID-19 lockdown, the CDC mandated facilities to notify patient representatives within 12 hours of the occurrence of a single confirmed infection of COVID-19. I only became aware via the internet of cases at the Legacy. I immediately called the Legacy and after what seemed to me to be denial, was told that two employees who worked and lived together had COVID-19At her new facility she is thriving. The have a petting zoo, aquarium and birds. Experts in Memory Care state that gardens and animals are an important aspect of memory care as patients react positively to environmental factors.

My loved one lived at the Legacy. I would NEVER recommend the Legacy for Independent or Assisted Living care. This is difficult to report as most of the staff are likable people but the safety and well being of my loved one was placed at risk numerous times due to MEDICATION MISMANAGEMENT. Although we would have discussions with the Director and with the revolving door of Nurses (the Legacy has a high turn over of Nurses and has gone for periods of times without a Nurse on staff) coupled with unreturned calls to the Corporate office ( Kimberly Erickson, COO) prompted us to get our loved one out of the Legacy. We paid a high price for the services (and lack thereof) at the Legacy. My suggestion is please look elsewhere for the safety and care of your loved one.

My advice is look into all of your options! My opinion is this assisted living is a joke. Marketing will smile In your face while selling you something they cannot deliver. We placed my mother here only to have her personal belongings stolen and to have her suffer without medication due to 'missing narcotics' that are handled by the facility. What a shame to put our loved ones in such a disgraceful situation, and my only regret is not looking into other options earlier. My mother is now at KINGSTON retirement community, and that is the best decision I could have made for her. They have delivered everything that was promised, and they have proven to us that our mother is taken care of. Please do not make the same mistake I did by letting Legacy fool you. Beautiful building, but ran horribly. (Once I post this I know they will deny and try to make themselves out to be something they are not) DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!

Do not I repeat DO NOT send your loved one here! The place cares about one thing and one thing and that is money and keeping up appearances. They have not even been open a year yet and these people have no idea what the hell they are doing! There is no communication whatsoever between employees and nobody is on the same page. If you ask any questions you will hear something different from everyone. There are policies and procedures in place that are supposed to be followed but everyone does their own thing. The employees are over worked because they are understaffed and have more residents then they can currently handle but the place is barely half way full. They are so desperate to hurry up and hire people to keep up those appearances that they do so without even waiting until a background check comes back and TB tests are even read! I have worked for assisted living communities and I know what the proper steps are supposed to be before officially hiring people and this place does none of it! Every place I have ever worked would not even let me step foot into the facility until my background checks came back and my TB tests were read. I had to wait almost two weeks once because the background check took some time. They have people working there with your loved ones right now and they have no idea if that person has TB or if that person has a criminal record or a history of abuse. That is the reason for background checks to prevent this kind of thing. Any reasonable facility makes sure the person checks out before hiring them. Anybody can say anything nowadays. They care nothing for their residents well being and safety. They hired a driver without a background check and allowed this person to work and actually drive a bus full of residents around before their background check results came back only to find out that this driver has 3 DWI's on their record. They did not learn anything from this because they continue to do it! This place does NOT take any due diligence in properly screening applicants before allowing them to work. Do not let the beautiful building fool you! The inner workings of this place are downright scary. If you really do have any concern for your elderly family members then I suggest you find a place that actually does what they are supposed to do and actually has some standards for hiring employees. This place is downright criminal and they should be shut down!
