This place doesn't know what's up or is down. When I went to apply, I was told they weren't hiring. The following morning, I received a phone call from their director Bobbi, asking me to come back & fill out an application, which I reluctantly did. I say reluctantly because both times I went there the place was messy, the residents wore dirty, food-stained clothing and their faces still had traces of food. The staff members sat around watching television & basically ignored the residents whom all (or so I was told) suffered from varying stages of dementia. The facility reeked very strongly of stale urine, & it was difficult to breathe comfortably due to the poor air quality. Despite the 90+ degree weather outside, there were no fans or air conditioners running the two times I was there. Also, the chair at the dining table that I was invited to sit at was very unstable, which was apparently one that the residents also use, posing a potential safety hazard. Bobbi is a very crass, loud, unprofessional woman w/no manners or social graces that I could observe during my 'interview' (I use that term loosely) w/her. She stated to me that she had just let an employee go who hadn't passed a background check, & she admitted to hiring her & having her around the residents before one was even conducted on the employee. Hence, why she had called me. We discussed my availability of hours that I could work, & I disclosed up front w/her that I needed a schedule that could allow me to be home by 6am or arriving by 8am, in order that I could ensure that my daughter who is disabled makes it safely to school. She said that she was fine with my availability & would like to move forward w/conducting a background check on me. Today I was offered the position. She wanted me to work two days orientation, starting tomorrow (Tuesday). I stated that due to prior commitments, I could work Wednesday but not tomorrow. She said 'fine' & disconnected the call. Twenty minutes later I received a voicemail from her telling me that she was 'rescinding her offer of employment because (my) 'availability' didn't meet her needs'. Bobbi is a mentally unstable, petty woman w/no interpersonal or communication skills. It's no wonder she can't keep help, & the staff she does have is lazy w/potentially unknown criminal backgrounds. She apparently has neither the discipline, inclination, or the brain cells to effectively manage her staff, much less the residents who have the misfortune of living there. She hires people without benefit of criminal backgrounds checks, & conveniently 'forgets' things as it suits her 'needs'. No, this review isn't about the rescinding of her employment offer. I am not so desperate to find a job, that I will blindly turn my eye to work 'anywhere', just to have a paycheck. I've been a CNA for 14 years, & this 'facility' definitely scores a zero in my opinion. Also, to the woman who says my review is 'childish & unprofessional', I guess you're just upset because I spoke the truth about my experience & observations. This has nothing to do w/'not getting a job'. The atmosphere, employees, environment & care of the residents there was appalling, & I did perceive Bobbi to be mentally unstable. As for my 'knowing it all', that's your perception not mine. I know enough not to leave my residents in clothing soiled by their last meal, or to try to involve them in some sort-of activity instead of ignoring them so I can watch television, or letting them sit in 90+ temps with no fan or air ventilation. That's not knowing it all, it's respecting the residents dignity & safety whether I'm a caregiver or not. What would have been really 'childish & unprofessional' of me, would have been to turn a blind eye & not warn others of the conditions & the people caring for others loved ones. I would rather pass up a paycheck than co-sign blatant neglect any day. Also @ AC, no the review wasn't personal & no, I do not think that I am a doctor.

Wow. MM's review seems personal. She seems to think she's a dr. able to diagnose someone as unstable. Yes, it's personal for unknown reasons.

I had a very positive experience at Casa Contenta and I recommend their facility without reservation. The owners are caring, experienced, knowledgeable and committed to providing a safe environment. Casa Contenta has low resident to staff ratios, the staff is attentive and the owners are responsive to each residents' unique needs. Meals are well-prepared, the atmosphere is homey, and for the 13-months they cared for my step-mother, there was never a bad odor and the place was spotless. My heart-felt thank you to Bobbie and Desi for their expert care.

The comment below is very childish and unprofessional for a woman that thinks she knows it all. The place is great and has good staff with excellent care.

The facility was clean, homey, and yet professionally operated. My mother was treated like family by all the caregivers at Casa Contenta. The staff was knowlegeable and noticed dementia symptoms I might have missed, ensuring Mom got the proper doctor appointment scheduled as quickly as possible.I can't say enough about the peace of mind that came with knowing Mom was being watched over and lovingly taken care of by the excellent staff at Casa Contenta.
