Personally, I think this is one of those places where there exists a very odd sort of snobbery or elitism. Strange, when you consider that these places are primarily for the care of people who are the victims of accident, illness, or old age, the great equalizers of the human race! The first problem I see with this is that we all put up with it. We all need to report places we suspect are not admitting people based upon God-Knows-What criteria. They don't even have to tell you why, for crying out loud. I've read that they have kicked people out. Now why would a place that purports to perform certain tasks that older people often need kick out people who need those very services? Or refuse to admit them in the first place? They need to have to answer for that, if it is indeed going on. I'm older, and I'm concerned about places that cherry-pick patients. On the other hand, if something like this is happening, you are probably better off not going here at all.

My mother, LaVerne Jahrling, was a long term patient. She was very happy in the facility, and when the end of her life approached in February of 2018, her treatment was world class, with staff tenderly turning her and tending to her needs, kissing her forehead so she would know she was loved, and every effort given to make my brother and his family comfortable in their vigil. Being bedbound in Florida kept me from being there for her except for phone and video, but knowing that she was in a secure and nurturing environment went a long way toward assisting my own anxieties about not being there in Farmington, NM. Thank you, staff and administration at Lifecare for going above and beyond for a lady who lived by the notion that in any given circumstance, it costs you nothing to be nice.
