Thank you in advance for reading my review.A HOME AWAY FROM HOME? Is this what youre looking for? This is what I was looking for almost three years ago and Los Colinas was my choice after looking at many other retirement facilities.I wanted the following;1. Friendly people experiencing the same life changing move2. An apartment that made me feel at home3. An apartment that was safe in all respects 4. Lovely eating environment5. Outdoor courtyard where I could gardenThese are only 5! How about the great staff, 3 nutritious meals a day, nursing help, transportation, activities daily, gated community, dog parkPlease come for a tour and see for yourself. Better yet, come for a meal!!Thank you for reading my review.

My grandma moved from Albuquerque to Hawaii for 50 years then back to Abq to spend her last year and half in Las Colinas. In my weekly visits I noticed that she was genuinely happy there, enjoyed the programming and that they were just nice people that worked there watching out for the elder folks. They were also very professional in making sure the end was comfortable for the family as she had passed peacefully and staff informed us immediately. She always had her independence there, but some kind soul had a feeling and checked on her that particular morning. Its a community atmosphere completely there, easy to find friends + conversations and people looking out for one another. Ke Akua pu a hui hou

My mom was a tenant of Los Colinas for 2 1/2 years. I visited a lot of facilities before I selected Los Colinas. I selected it because from the moment you drive up the environment is inviting (large, old trees, a lot of space, staff walking dogs, a great garden/patio area). It made me feel like it was 'home' for my mom. I've seen a lot of senior places as I took care of my aunt and my dad for many years. Los Colinas BY FAR has the most caring, friendly staff. I've experienced a lot of grumpy people that take care of the elderly but I never experienced this at Los Colinas - from the dining room staff, to the front desk, maintenance personnnel and their healthcare aides, Gemini Home Healthcare, I've never experienced one person being grumpy with the tenants. That's quite an accomplishment. I found that the food was good and the atmosphere made my mom feel at home. They recently changed administrators, and I was a bit worried about the new management due to the factor of the unknown. However, the new administrator, Aubrey Edmonds, is excellent. She had to see me through a very difficult period of moving my mother to memory care. This could have been unpleasant, but Aubrey handled herself with such grace and professionalism is made a very difficult situation much better. I wouldn't hesitate to have a loved one move to Los Colinas.

Currently they seem to be having a large staff turnover. Today this manifested in a call I placed to check on basic utilities for my mother that had been out for 5 days. The representative who answered the phone was very indifferent and told me no maintenance or management is present on the weekend and I could call back in two days. Basically SOL on the basic living utilities. I am also concerned about the such limited services on weekends. Still the facility could not fixe the issues during the weekdays. My mother reports that staff are routinely rude and evasive to residents and my experience matched her own. At the start of the turnover new staff indicated they would be working hard to improve conditions but this incident does not make me confident about that. It would be a good idea to have someone who demonstrates care for the residents as the primary staff on weekends when no management is present-at a minimum. This makes me very sad and disappointed because when my mother and I made the decision to move her to a Senior Star facility it was the most warm and inviting place I had visited. I hope they can turn things around and improve their attitudes, service, and responses.
