It is a clean facility, a nice facility, many caring workers...then there is the other workers, the office personnel, the administration AND keeping that 5 star rating. BUT what about TRULY caring for the patients and families? What about the patients that are there for rehabilitation to go home? My mother came in standing alone for 10 minutes, now not even 10 seconds. My mother was doing 2 hours a day of therapy, now not even 5 minutes. Yet, somehow this is not any of their doing?? Coming from Madonna Hospital (as there were no beds open on 1st floor to continue rehabilitation) my mother had even started using the walking machine at Madonna. Now as she is not progressing Ridgewood put in a claim to have Medicare coverage revoked? Shocking!!!! How this came about?? I was notified of a general meeting a week before... which would take place the following Thursday, just an 'update' on my mothers progress. With my mother sitting there with me and a whole crew at the other end of the table we were told I can appeal the decision BUT she must be out by Tuesday or it would be self pay a $241.00 a day and this would be with no Therapy in this fee!! WOW!! Sad my mother had six surgeries in 21 days, five on her head and one in the stomach. Life flight for an inner cranial aneurysm, first a drain tube, then a team to fix the aneurysm. Then came the shunt, a shunt revision, later a subdural hemorrhage was found, another drain tube, a metal plate on the left side of her head as the neurosurgeon had to saw two 3' incisions into the skull to repair the bleed and drain the rear left cranial where the blood had been and other issues along the way. I am still a bit speechless and in shock at the comments that were made to me about my mother. Not even 3 months ago from the start of it all and kicking her out the door or pay $$$ with NO therapy??!! If this is compassion, caring and all Ridgewood claims to be think twice!! I STRONGLY suggest you look else where. I did appeal, I won THEN the next day they turned right around and started a new claim. In the midst of trying to figure out how to move mother into a new facility that TRULY cares if she ever walks again as her prognoses is 100% recovery over a years time STRESS!! Mother was so outgoing and independent before this... she needs her life back. Be very careful when our older treasures are on the mend 23 days of poor care can destroy what was gained in about the same amount of time. I'm just truly heartbroken AND it is heart wrenching to watch what has ALL been done to my mother from the Hospital that misdiagnosed her, sent her to another hospital which did the same.... seven hours later the rupture, two more hours to be resuscitated, stabilized for flight AND then the 55 minute flight, a total of nine hours before she arrived at UNMC/Clarkson to begin a long road of surgery and recovery... now this??!!.There is truly something wrong with our healthcare system in this country. I DO apologize to all of the caring dedicated workers at this facility... ALTHOUGH if there was a ZERO I would rate Ridgewood as such. Obviously this is a management issue for the most part or this is how a Vetter's Facility works. Thinking about it if I would have brought her home and cared for her myself it would have been easier as she is in worse shape now than when she arrived as far as mobility. The other therapies she was receiving at Madonna which Ridgewood says they provide... sorry just don't see it or believe it. Shame on them.
