The residents get treated fairly well. The staff are caring and lilovitowards the residents. As a former employee I will say that their administration is lacking. The Health Care Supervisor is rarely seen by staff as she let's her lead Medication Aide do a lot of her work for her. The lead med aid enjoys her position to the extent that instead of being a compassionate leader and helping new employees learn the ropes and feel accepted she bulies them. She does not keep things confidential and loves to point out mistakes in front of others as to embarrass them. This is allowed and condoned by the Health Care Supervisor. She rushes through her work so she can spend time looking for the failures of others or sitting in the Health Care Supervisor's office, which is at the back of the building. I could not work in a place e where that was ok.I watched them hire a Program director who the quit three months after starting. They have at least three administrators in the 5 years they have been open, close to 5 maintenance supervisors and are on their third program director. Was very difficult to watch staff come and go so quickly.

My Mother is currently staying here. It is a very nice place and everyone on staff is very kind.Update - 9/1/2016 After Management turnover and after a stay of 2 years her care status continued to go up at each evaluation. Went up to Maximum Level 4 care pretty quickly. My Mom is not wheel chair bound like several other patients. Yes she needed help with incontinence and was distracted while eating at times. We requested information on why her level was so high based on the other patience around her. We never received any response and were basically ignored. We originally based our decision to place her at HP because of the management at the time. They were very caring. They were replaced with more of a corporate people. It is a very big place with a lot of rooms. We still liked all the nurses and care givers who took care of my Mom. We have since moved her to a smaller facility and are very happy! Be careful!

I would highly recommend this facility for any patient in need of specialized Alzheimer's care. As a healthcare professional myself I have a lot of respect for the quality of care provided at High Plains and I trust this facility to provide excellent care of my family.
