I am so grateful that my dad is a resident of Edgewood in Helena. He is truly loved by the staff and is happy and well taken care of. Although he has dementia and suffered a stroke recently, he has made a full recovery and is eating on his own, reading, speaking and even has a sense of humor all due to the hard work and tenacity of the staff. They visited him in the hospital and during his stint in rehab so that they could prepare for him to 'come home' to Edgewood. If you look on the Edgewood Facebook page you will see all the stimulating social activities and trips around town and beyond that the residents enjoy! My dad is a very welcomed part of the posse! It is also a very comforting thought that they will be likely the ones with him in his final days whenever that comes. In the meantime he lives life to the fullest extent thanks to all the staff at Edgewood...but with special thanks to Julia, Rebecca (both of them), Dessie, and Lisa.

My mothers respite care was a disaster. I visited her everyday for a week to see how she was doing at this facility. Early on I stopped by to see her and there was a stench of urine as soon as I walked in. I found soiled clothing and continence protectors for the bed in a pile in her room. I told the nurse on duty and she took care of it. This happened 3 more times in one week. I went to take her to an appointment and when I stooped down to put her shoes on she reeked with urine. Every night they locked up her hearing aids in her med drawer. On the weekend they were not a available and the staff said they couldnt get them without permission from the RN who works Monday-Friday. They said they would call her and I never heard back after asking 2 different people. I had to shout at my mom so she could hear me. I hired my home health caretaker for my mom so she would have constant companionship while I was out of town. The executive director came into the room and gruffly said Who are you and what are you doing here? It made Morgan cry she was so nasty. They did not brush her teeth or wash her face. I checked her toothbrush in the morning and it was not wet. She had sleepers near her eyes so I knew they were not washing her face. I put a sticky note on the bathroom mirror before I left to go out of town and when I went to pick her up in 2 weeks they still were not brushing her teeth. No matter what issues I brought up respectfully, nothing changed. The nurse was nice but didnt take care of things. We will never take our mother back there again.
