Highly DO NOT recommend... Working here has been uneventful and degrading, they never stay staffed and you will be stressed 24/7. Resident care is horrifying and you are better off sending your loved ones someplace they will TRULY be cared for and treated the way you want them to be treated. 1 star does not come close to this penitentiary... State comes in to see all the horrible things and tells them to pay a fine to prevent being shut down...

Reviews are tough on nursing homes. You want the best for your family members. Period! And should not have to accept anything less! Because its not different then a day care center for your children. Sunset is rundown. It is staffed. But, is disorganized. Their intake program, which is none, fails with new patients coming in. No matter what the patients critera. I was excited to get my Dad in there, after being reassured by so many staff memebers. ' We will take care of him' etc. In the end, they didnt have an intake program to make sure he was directed in everything he needed. He has dementia, which is tough case to handle. But, just to turn him loose into their population with no supervision ended up with negative results not only for himself, but others and his family. With nothing positive for the outcome. They sent him away, without my immediate knowledge back to the VA locked down facility and try to find some place else for him. At one point over the phone, I was told point blank, ' What do you think we are, a babysitting service' . Of course my Dad was taken away. I was left to go back down there, a 90 minute drive, and get his belongings together, which of course things were missing after only 3 days. It's a shame in this time and place. That servant hood is seen as only self service for the person who has taken on a job. Not everyone im sure is like that there. But, all the major staff, workers that I dealt with, were. Inconsiderate, as we were bringing a problem child into the fold for them to have to look after again. The patience are taken care of as far as they need to. The hardest workers there, and not the ones who sit behind the nursing stations and complain, its the clean up individuals. And I hope they are the ones getting paid more then anyone else.

Great Staff

Clean. No nursing home smells that you expect to smell. I hate nursing homes but I actually think this 1, I won't have any problems that require me to call state department.
