Sonshine Manor

My father had back surgery and had to recover and do therapy for a couple of weeks. The team at Sonshine is amazing. Both crews , nurses, staff admin and therapy, have been amazing . They have become part of the family and I am forever grateful!

In my experience as a educated RN (Now Retired). Every Change comes with it's up and downs, some changes are good and some chances are bad. Let me tell you from first experience, My mother has never complained so much and has noticed the changes in management. (THE RESIDENTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS ARE USUALLY THE FIRST PEOPLE TO KNOW). I usually don't express things over the internet I usually go right to the source , but after reading the previous post, then the rebuttal. ( A person that probably works for this company) This person that rebuttal is very unprofessional and it just shows the lack of knowledge and intelligence, and plain right stupidity. Do you actually think (Mrs thrift) that the resident and family members are not seeing and feeling the changes that have happen here at Sonshine? First of all, in my position as staffing Coordinator , I would of never stated what you did. Wow whatever position this company has you in, you should be removed, children are not welcome. A statement by you ' Management Changes and a breath of fresh air '. In educated terms means that there needed to be a change, well if there needed to be a change, why didn't the company act sooner, You are suggesting a problem. Also you are also acknowledging there is a change and validating the point of the family, resident and staff have noticed. The previous person is probably thanking your for that validation. Who are you to decide if the changes have been appropriate or appreciated. My MOTHER is a resident there and as a family , I have the right to be concerned about things, such as Short staffing, Moral (its a proven fact about moral and care) or are you not that intelligent to understand that fact). And to be honest the previous comments about the new management is true!! I witness it. Its a bunch of BS. Also the nurse that the previous person wrote about , 'Cindy (Charge Nurse), is true you go up to her, it always somebody else fault or problem, rude attitude, can't even smile, and never knows what is going on with my mother. You ask her to go down and assess something, its like taking a clamp just to pull her from the desk. Don't even get me started about the white board (I like to see who is taking care of my mother and how many staff are on, this gives us family members a piece of mind. THE STAFF THAT IS LEFT AT SONSHINE , KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. AGAIN I WILL BE LOOKING FOR OTHER PLACEMENT FOR MY MOTHER TOO. THIS PLACE HAS WENT TO HEL*. DON'T SEND YOUR LOVED ONE THERE, I'M GETTING MY LOVED ONE OUT!!

My grandma has dementia and cant remember to change clothes or a need to shower. She went a month without either but they swear by the chart someone fills out supposedly when you can look at her and know that's a lie. The visitor parking is never empty because employees park there so a lot of times visitors have to park behind the building or on the street.

I never thought my Mother would every go in a nursing Home. She had too. I was unable to take care of her and she kept having to go to the ER for different things. I heard great reviews from the hospital and community about Sonshine Manor. I took a chance on this place and I want to say it was the best thing I could have done. I want to Thank the nursing department for always being there for My mother, My Father and My Family. I was always kept informed of every situation. If I had question I was able to call the nurses station and they had an answer for me. I want to give as many thumbs up I can and a special thanks to Sonshine Manor, Director of Nurses. (He is very knowledgeable and with any question or concerns I might have had they were always followed through and taken care of, 'Believe me when I say I know I was a very difficult family member to take care of, but not once did i feel like anyone at this facility did not care for my family member. This nursing home has a family atmosphere, and isn't your typical nursing home. I would like to add one more thing to this, My Father was in this nursing home and had skilled rehab, he is now home and able to do everything on his own. Thank You Sonshine Manor!!! You will always be in my heart 'knowing that you have been there for me and my family!!' Again, Thank You and God Bless You ALL.

This Place has went down hill since, new management has taken this place over. You have Jeff ' The Administrator', that is all talk, but no walk. i'M SURE YOUR MET HIM, HE TELLS YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR!! BLAH BLAH BLAH. You have the new 'Director of Nursing ,'Shelby, that never is available and doesn't seem like she cares. EVERYTIME I ASK THE STAFF WHERE SHE IS, THEY ARE LIKE AT ANOTHER FACILITY. There has been more staff fired since these new people have taken over than I have seen in the last 3 years since my mother has been here. CHANGE OVER HERE IS TERRIBLE !! You always hearing that state is in the building. You have a charge nurse Named 'Cindy, that is so disrespectful, that she told me to read my own mothers labs and every time you approach her, she is either in a bad mood, doesn't want to be bothered, talking about her man, but can never tell me what is wrong with my mother (Did I mention how rude she is). GET RID OF HER!! This place used to be run by caring, fair, and loving people, which I called family. Looking at other places to transfer my Mother. Another thing is with all the recent changes, you can't even see who is taking care of my mother now because they had to take the white board down, because they don't want to alert family members on how short they are. YOU CAN TELL THIS PLACE IS SHORT STAFFED NOW!!! Team work in the building you can tell is down. Moral is down. This place needs the corporation to come in and clean the administrator and Director of Nursing out. I am ashamed of this company allowing this to happen. You can even hear the staff talking about alleged neglect in this home. !!! BE WARN THIS FACILITY IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE, KEEP YOUR LOVED ONES OUT!!! THIS PLACE IS NO 5 STAR NOW!!!
