As of this writing (6/19/17), I have lived here since November 2015 , and I love it today as much as the first day I moved in. The apartments and the property overall are well maintained on a daily basis. Any maintenance issues with individual apartments are addressed and resolved immediately. The entire staff is friendly, hospitable, caring, and competent. That being said, at 10 years old, the units and the property overall are starting to show their age in various places, so I will be interested in seeing how things are updated as time goes on. The neighbors are friendly, and the place is dead-quiet and peaceful, especially at night. The inside acoustics are great, thanks to fireproof walls. (You can hear footfall traffic in lower units, but very little lateral noise.) Also, even though we are near a highway, we never hear the highway traffic. The only noise at night is an occasional train, but most residents (including me) will tell you it never wakes them up or keeps them up at night. There are lots of community activities, and a bus (with an awesome bus driver) that takes us all over town to myriad shopping outlets, including restaurants, and occasional special entertainment outings as well. The apartments are well insulated. This is the lowest utility bill I've ever had in an apartment of this size. I live in Building 2, where we share laundry facilities (1 per wing of 7 units). I've never, ever had a conflict with having to wait to do laundry (2 washers, 2 dryers), and the laundry room is well maintained. I love the hotel-like layout with wings and lobbies. I also like that we have other amenities on each floor, such as a gym, library, computer center, and community room with a kitchen, plus public bathrooms on the third and first floors. The building is secure and safe, and so is our mail (including packages), which is always delivered inside the secure area. It's a very good deal for the price. The main reasons I gave it four stars inside of five are:1. (This item updated 8/30/19) My original 6/17 comment mentioned smoke smells coming from some apartments. Much to my delight, we now have a no-smoking policy (tobacco and vaping) anywhere inside the building. So that has eliminated the lingering smoke issues inside the building. However, now that all the smokers are going outside to smoke, the outdoor seating areas (3 in each building) are now all completely consumed with the smell of tobacco, either from the live smoking or the nicotine residue, so it's less enjoyable for us non-smokers to sit outside. I would really love it if they assigned a designated area for the smokers to have their fix, while the rest of the seating remained clean and smoke-free. Maybe someday. 2. The other reason for docking a star is there are some engineering and design anomalies in the layout of the apartments that I find annoying and wasteful, particularly with regard to the door placements and how they have to function (killing space on one side of the wall or the other). If it were up to me, I'd fire whoever came up with this layout - they clearly are clueless about how people actually live and 'flow' inside their apartments, and thus should not be in the business of designing living spaces LOL. And don't even get me started on the placement of the electrical panel that we are required to leave exposed at all times. Okay. Done venting! But despite those two complaints (which are, indeed, annoyances but not deal-breakers), I LOVE living here, and I highly recommend it for any seniors looking for affordable, safe housing which still allows a modicum of independence, even if you don't drive. Not to mention the option for socializing. Emphasis on 'option' - with this layout, you can just as easily be a social butterfly or a hermit. Best of all worlds, in my opinion.

This is Gentemann Manor II........I was very excited to move to a place with so many nice people and affordable rent. The property is well maintained although a few minor things seem to get lost in the shuffle. I love the location and most amenities are fine considering it is senior housing. Unfortunately, the dog noise issues are not addressed. People must keep their TV volume low in spite of noisy air conditioners and being hard of hearing but dogs are allowed to bark all day long at the door of owners apartment no matter how much this bothers another tenant. You cannot even hear your TV for the noise of the barking dog if you live across the hall from it. I would give it a much higher rating if it wasn't for dogs being allowed to bark all they want anywhere and anytime. I am told that since it is pet friendly they cannot address dog barking issues. I know that most places that are pet friendly expect their tenants to control their dog barking reasonably.Update - for 2 weeks now the dog has been quiet and I am enjoying my apartment and location. All is never perfect in a complex but I will start sleeping in the 2nd bedroom as soon as my daughter brings a bed for it and all is quiet there since cannot hear the a/c in there. It is located in the main bedroom and, of course, the a/c for apartment above and below are heard as well. Perhaps the newer complexes have quieter units. This is such a perfect location and most people are kind and friendly. I am content.
