My father was in Garden Valley for a little over a year. We just moved him to another nursing home facility due to multiple issues. (too long to list) . There is very little accountability. After several meetings with the facility manager we still got nothing but a 'things will get better etc...' I would describe it better as 'lip service'. Most of the CNAs are nice, especially Maria. The facility is extremely understaffed. Clothing sometimes never makes it back to the room from laundry 'disappears', patient call lights would at times be on 30 minutes or more before a nurse or CNA arrived. Many times I've tried calling and the phone is never answered. As I said before, 'understaffed'. According to US News and World report 'Best Nursing Homes' ratings, Garden Valley is ranked below average in every category except one. The overall rating of the facility was poor. I had the papers filled out to send to the state regarding the conditions, but we decided to move Dad out ASAP . Unless drastic improvements are made, I would not recommend Garden Valley anyone's family members or loved ones. This facility needs to reported to the state. 4-4-2018

Food is terrible. Aides just want to argue with you and most have a bad attitude. Takes them forever to answer the call light. There is a lack of communication on all levels. This place is dirty. They don't take very good care of residents.

This place is a mixed bag, in my opinion. When I was there recently the main floors and areas looked clean and tidy. It does feel like a very old hospital when you walk down the hallways. I did notice that my friend's room is VERY dated. It needs a paint, and some bringing it into this century. Not sure if all the rooms are that bad though. Lady at front desk was very friendly and helpful when I went here the other day. One of the male staff members appeared to be high when I talked to him (in December). It does feel depressing around here when I visit and my friend is depressed living here, I know. It appears to be a lot of people who are very ill or not so mobile so if someone is younger or able to do a lot of walking, etc. and is fairly fit then they probably will not feel like they are a good fit here. Heard several people complain about meals that are not tasty much of the time, esp. breakfast. I don't know what to think of this place because they have had SO MANY violations, above average from what I have read online; on government websites and also local TV station reports (can be googled). I say do your research, I know if it was me I would not choose this place.
