My aunt died while placed at this facility and though the care seemed to be ok there while she was placed in 2013 after her health deteriorated suddenly where she stopped talking and eating and had to be hospitalized several times. During the last month of her life at the end of April 2019 my sister and I visited her and noticed that she was no longer wearing her ring that she always wore since being there and the staff at that time told us they didn't know where it was. I have since spoken with the Administrator and Case Manager about her jewelry being missing and I was told nonchalantly that they hadn't found it and they had investigated it themselves and they didn't believe it was stolen by their staff which is irrelevant who took it because they as her care provider should have taken extra precaution to put up her valuables up safely when she was taken away from the facility or if she was no longer capable of watching it for herself... that is responsible care. We have had to keep contacting the facility about this matter because noone has made any effort to contact us back to rememedy this situation even though I explained that it was a part of my aunt's will. In fact, I was told that because I was not listed as a contact on their paperwork that I couldn't be given any information on it even though she is now deceased. We obviously will have to take our complaint higher it seems because despite the facility's stance that they don't believe it was taken by their staff they don't seem to be interested in assisting us in locating it because we all know that jewelry doesn't just walk off. The facility is responsible for their patient's property and at the very minimum since my sister is a listed contact she should have been contacted by them by now to inform her on what is being done to remedy this but she still hasn't been either. I would suggest to anyone with loved ones here to take extra precautions with your loved ones valuables.
