We used them to take the Sea Hunter III to Isle Royale National Park. The whole thing wasn't a great experience. It's ridiculously expensive to take the ferry. The dock/port are pretty sketchy. I was afraid the dock was going to fall when I was standing on it. They didn't follow the boarding or departure times--both were late. They don't board in the order you get there. They call names out in a random order. They pack as many people on the boat as possible. The seats are very uncomfortable. Some of them have no backs. It's a 1.5 hour ferry ride. They make random stops at things that no one cares about (like a tree). It can be rough depending on the weather. They also charge you $4 to park in a gravel parking lot in the middle of no where. Unfortunately, if you want to go to Isle Royale, this is your only option from the Minnesota side. There is another ferry from Copperhead in Michigan.

Overcrowded. Not at all comfortable. We had to turn back twice due to black smoke on return trip . No explanations. Finally made it back three hours late.

The Voyager II is a rattle trap, wear ear plugs if your unlucky enough to be booked on this boat. The Captain was not to swift, far from professional.
