Colonial Village Apartments

I have live here for 8 years. I have always paid my rent, mind our own business, dont complain, report maintenance issues, we take care of our place. Also in writing this review I am taking a risk. I am fearful of retaliation by the company/main manager. The Theis and Talles and Colonial Village's main statement is ' We want your experience to be the best it can be and we do this by making sure our residents come first.' And 'We want to make your home with us comfortable and enjoyable.' And quality/enjoyment of life. However this is NOT the case. If you have kids or pets DO NOT MOVE HERE. Instead the staff are the main priority and catered to. Decisions are made not with current residents in mind but in attracting new ones and accordingto staff's opinions. Things like landscaping and outside appearances are the priority. Things like apartment flooding and cement walls bowing are not. We have been reporting flooding for the last3 years and nothing other than clean up has been done. You can expect frequent lease changes and rule changes without prior notice or warning. If you live closer to the office you will be under extra scrutiny while those further away get away with rule breaking. This place is advertised as pet friendly and for families. It should be advertised as Adult only. Frequent complaints and lease violations for kids crying, things beyond our control, etc. They are very picky about kids being able to enjoy out door life. I go out of my way to keep my kids quite as possible. I am constantly on edge. I've also been told that from the manager that 'It isn't fair that we as the largest unit pays the same rent as the smaller units.' Which is very unfair statement. We have live here for 8 years. It isn't our fault that they cant raise our rent. The main manager is quick with her tongue and often contradicts herself or always has an answer for why they cant do this or that. Usually it comes down to money. They offer a garden area. Don't do it, it's a waste of time and money. People steal or bunnies eat everything. (Security and a fence was promised but never done) As well as there is no way for elderly hard to walk or disabled to access this without the risk of falling. I actually like where I live. It's the management company and main manager that makes this place unenjoyable. I was also told that they want to modernize this place. However they work on outward appearances and ignore major issues like flood, etc. I have a special needs child and personally suffer from Depression, Anxiety, PTSD. Living here in the last 4 years have wrecked havoc on my mental illness while also caring for a special needs child. When we moved in our tile flooring was cracked and falling apart. When further wear and tear continued to break tiles, staff just glued them and told us to put a rug on it. We've had pest problems for 2 years and were given poison??!! We have kids and dogs. And the real issue with how the pest are getting in was not taken care of! We had to buy a humane trap and get rid of it ourselves. The reason we haven't moved is because of the sudden onset of my daughters illness and all the care that is required, that is priority. We rented this place because of the fenced in yard that offered privacy. They are tearing this down which I dont care for but I cant do anything about. The only reason this is happening is because of the maintenance man is afraid of our dogs. And then we were give excuses like, the kids look in the neighbors windows..??When we moved in we had snow removal in our back yard. When the latest manager started we didn't receive that. When asked about it we were given an excuse. I feel as if she is being bias due to the fact that HER husband has the bid.I just dont get it. We go out of our way to be good tenants and keep the kids quiet and be peaceful with neighbors and staff. Otherwise this would be a great place to live. It breaks my heart

Very great and friendly staff! Maintenance is always on time and urgent when something happens that needs attention. Been a tenant for almost 2 years and am always greeted with a smile. The friendly office gals are awesome at what they do and make living here a great experience!
