No Stars.....Management is very poor and doesn't know how to handle staff. Caregivers were found taking drugs while on duty taking care of my parents. The food is not good, wouldn't even provide fresh fruit or healthy options. Wounds were not taken care of. Mother had to go to emergency for lack of care. No response from staff for 30-1 hour after call lights were pulled. Activities directors have come and gone, worker and management turnover is high. AND funny....one of the ONLY good reviews here is from Sue Vincent....who is the head nurse there!

I will start by the obvious that my sister and I made note of, yes this facility is beautifully decorated, with a few genuinely caring staff members. However, please look only a little closer and you will see/hear all of its truths(maybe avoid a headache). Bickfords core values claim that staff is well versed in dementia care, but it does not take long to identify that most of the staff do not have the slightest understanding of what it takes to effectively/compassionately care for these individuals. It is common to overhear staff members talking openly about residents in common areas(HIPAA?), as well as talking directly to residents in an inappropriate manner/tone, or even mocking. Where is management, nursing? If you find them, consider yourself lucky. I hoped this would be a good home for my L.O., I am realizing more and more this is not a home this is simply an understaffed, unsupervised workplace.

I dont know where to begin. Unfortunately, I HAD to pick one star. Zero stars would have been my choice. Dont be fooled by the fancy, new building and Hobby Lobby decor. Unfortunately, I had a sibling that thought this facility was the best of the best; before it even opened. I was my mothers caretaker for 8 months in my home. If it had been up to me she would still be living with me and...alive. Anyone who is considering this facility for a loved one with dementia; please insist that an evaluation of your loved one is done at the home she is living in. Do not have the evaluation done at the facility. Nurse Vicki advised it is recommended to do the evaluation at the home where the loved one resides however, she accepted moms evaluation to be done at the facility with a sibling who had not been her caretaker. My completed assessment on paper was not even looked at. This led to a terribly false evaluation; putting my mom at a Level 2 care. Clearly this was far from a proper care level for my mom. My mom lasted 5 weeks at this facility when she suffered a stroke and brain bleed. She was discovered sitting in the main living area for God knows how long before someone realized something was not right. I also did not receive a call that she was taken to the hospital until 2.5 hours AFTER 911 was called. She never left the hospital and passed a week later. Please remember when choosing an AL facility, these people are sales people they want your money. Do your homework and dont be quick to assume a beautifully decorated facility means great place, great care. Check out the day time activity at this facility, check out the on-staff ratio to patients. Dont take their word for it; GO THERE and see for yourself. Do this for both day and night time staff. Make sure the locks on your loved ones door works properly. A couple residents got into my moms room and on a daily basis many attempted to get into her room. Make sure your LO is being tended to when needed. There is a red pull string in each room for residents to use when they need help. I received several phone calls during the night from my mom in tears waiting for someone to help her go to the bathroom. Take a look at the interactions, if any, within the facility. The list goes on but Ill stop there. Again, do your homework and be very cautious of what appears to be the right place for your LO.
