The importance of finding a place for my dad that is safe and loving for his final days on earth is extremely important to me. Wellspring Lutheran memory care facility is not this place for many reasons and Im happy to tell you why...- We were continually promised things from Lu that were never followed through (Ill check on that and get back to you, Ill make sure that gets done). We quickly learned that if her lips were moving, it was a lie!-There is a constant turnover of staff. In my opinion, these aids are underpaid and under-educated as far as handling Alzheimers patients. There were a select few aids that were qualified to handle these patients, but more that were not. -The personal hygiene of my dad was never a priority. He would go up to 3 wks at a time without a shower. We were told he refused a shower, and unless my mom or a qualified staff member were around, it never happened. -There were times he went without his anxiety medication which would leave him agitated. Instead of finding an alternative way to get him properly medicated (smash meds in ice cream, food or BOOST), he would go unmedicated. -Many of his personal belongings (shoes, towels, underwear) were constantly missing from his room. We had to mark his belongings at admission time with his name and room number but that didnt matter. -His laundry was never done or returned to his room. Often times my mom took his dirty clothes and sheets/towels back to her house to do and return them the next day. -There was a rate increase for his rent and there was NEVER an increase in his care. In my heart, transitioning my dad into memory care was one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do. I was hoping the little things for his care would be a priority... like making sure he was clean, tucking him into bed at night, putting pajamas on him at bedtime, lotion on his dry hands and feet, etc...and this was never done. These may seem like minimal requests, but are so important to me when its my dad and I cant be there to do it. It has been a blessing that we have removed my dad from this facility and found a new memory care location where he is happy, clean and cared for like he deserves. I wish we would have made this change sooner. If youre asking for my opinion, I would NEVER recommend Wellspring Lutheran memory care for someone you love.

We just transitioned my Father in-law to another facility and I would highly recommend avoiding this location for numerous reasons. For starters, this isnt a state licensed facility and I think the poor level of care is reflected in this fact. Throughout his year long stay at Wellspring, his hygiene wasnt a priority and he often went weeks without a shower or shave. They always claimed that he didnt cooperate. His room was so messy during my last visit, my Wife and Mother in law had to vacuum and wipe down the furniture. His clothes, towels, and other belonging constantly disappeared and I blame the facility management for this unacceptable issue. The current management (Lou) was always poor at follow through and seldom followed up on critical items. In the end, my Father in-law was successfully transitioned to another facility that cares about their residents. They even agreed to wash the unlaundered clothes Wellspring provided during the move out. he even received a shower on his first day. Its Ridicules that they wouldnt think to take care of this small item (laundry) and another example of their lack of attention to detail.I could go on further, but think i made my point. Please evaluate your other options and dont trust this location to provide trusted care! Thank you!
