White Oaks

I want to commend Destinee for her bright smile and seeming to enjoy her job. It is good to have some younger people caring for older people. She never balks at whatever the task at hand seems to be.

White Oaks was a very positive experience for my friend.The staff were all very kind, caring and loving toward my friend.

I put my FIL in their memory care facility. He is usually a polite and easy going guy, but sometimes he suffers from episodes of agitation/aggression/paranoia, as those with dementia sometimes do. They called me at almost 10 pm and told me I had to pick him up and take him home (are you kidding me?!) or to the hospital because he was having an episode, which was over by the time I arrived. He was asleep in bed when I got there, yet they still insisted I taken him to the ER anyway. I complied. I didnt find out until after we were in the ER they were throwing us out. They didnt even tell me on the phone or to my face when I picked him up. The ER nurse told me after she had called White Oaks to get some info, they said he was kicked out and not welcome to come back. A memory care facility had no idea how to handle a dementia patient having an episode, and kicked him out in the middle of the night for behaving like those with dementia sometimes do. This place maybe ok for lonely retirees or those requiring minimal assistance, but look elsewhere if you have truly special needs, like memory care for dementia. They have no business claiming they can provide specialized care, because they very clearly cannot.

Our family was not only pleased with the care our mother was given, at White Oaks, but moreover ,the genuine attention to her emotional well being which promoted her feeling of positive outlook. Although Mom had aspects of diagnostic dementia, the care staff approached her as a contributing adult .

Im extremely happy that I chose White Oaks to take care of my wife with her struggle with Alzheimers. The facility is equipped to handle all contingencys that might arise. With helpers like Holli S. takeing care of her with skill and kindness, my mind is set at ease.
