I have been a caregiver for seven years. This is the ABSOLUTE worst company I have ever worked for. Facility RN does not follow protocol set up by the board of nursing, including use of mechanical lifts, and mechanical restraints, and medication assistance protocol. The RN will tell employees to give medications without an order from a provider. ( BIG NO NO) She does not engage in training and favors certain employees she deems friends. Management is detached from the staff they do not understand care giving and will do anything to get the job done. Example - A resident had passed away and mid afternoon the following day, the family came in the owner ( Greg AKA Chip) asked the family how their deceased family member was doing, did not know that they had passed away in his facility. How does that even happen? I heard of or witnessed more employees 'Walking out' in the middle of their shift. Discipline is biased. I was a ' Shift Supervisor' and had a subordinate who was sub- par in their performance. When I discussed with Jen ( The other owner, who is married to Chip) what to do, she informed me that I needed to give compliments after constructive criticism, I can respect that, her reasoning, on the other hand was because this employee was a female. I was being told, as a male that I needed to treat women different on the job. Unfortunately bad performance is bad performance regardless of gender. Care staff are not trained, as a matter of fact I worked there full time for four months, and I never had any of my training completed, including CPR training. I still have my training forms in my care. An individual who I was working with regularly did not know how to handle a convulsive seizure. Their direct supervisor, instructed them to hold the patients head, only call 911 if the family requested that ( CDC, Mayo clinic, and the epilepsy foundation strongly disagree) wanted the staff to ' Make sure they don't bite of their tongue'. This person oversaw 16 residents and many many staff. The management states the reason they are able to get around these rules, which are designed for safety and patient well being, is because they are not licensed by the state of Mi. In other words, because they can get away with poor treatment, poor treatment protocols, and incompetence is because they can. As a trained / licensed CNA in various states, a licensed home health care worker, and PCA I have worked in care giving in four different states, with elderly, developmentally disabled, mentally ill, and everything in between. I have managed large facilities, oversaw countless staff and the care of literally hundreds of patients. All of my training and work exp. and knowledge contradict everything this company stands for. These residents - many who are elderly - are the ones on the wrong side of this. Their health and treatment suffer as a result. God forbid I ever had to put a loved on in any type of assisted living facility, Evergreen Heights would be the last place I put them. Admitting a loved one to this facility, is putting them in harms way, putting the money in pockets of people who don't care about their facility, their staff and more importantly the patients. How this place is open is a mystery to me. Maybe you can find the various complaints I filed with DHS regarding this? Due to my report this is all public information, and you can find further information on this through the Health Dept. I certainly hope that you look into this facility further before working there or before placement. You will more than likely open a can of worms, that you wish you hadn't. Upon first inspection, and first impression Evergreen seems to be positive. The only reason I gave this facility, one star, is because I had to in order to post this review. This may sound as if I am a disgruntled employee, but I left on my own, quit due to gross misconduct. You couldn't offer me enough money to return.
