My mother was a resident of The Gables at Springlake Assisted Living in Shreveport, Louisiana since October 2014 until November 2019. In addition, her brother also lived at this same facility from 2012 through 2015 upon his death. Initially under the supervision and administration of Suzaane Campbell, as Exe. Director and the ownership at that time, this facility was client oriented and actually cared about the residents. Over the years, however, the company was bought out, filed bankruptcy and had new management and owners. What initially was an exceptional place to live, affordable, nice sized rooms and management that actually cared about their long termed residents changed with Priority Management buying the company and their leadership. The nursing staff including Amanda P., Diane, and Shaun D. are exceptional LPNs and they actually care about the residents and treat them like family. However, the management team and owners of the company do not have the best interest of the residents at heart. They are mainly concerned about profit and have not maintained the level of service and the initial reason for placing my mom and uncle at this facility. We were given a 30 days notice that my mothers monthly rental rate was increasing by over 30.287% without willing to negotiate a lower rate. Our plea fell on deaf ears. The level of service decreased over the years and the services that were initially offered with the monthly rate were discontinued. The attitude of the new company was that since it was assisted living, they could not be responsible for my mother as they were an assisted living facility when she walked off the property. Initially we were informed that there were things in place for individuals with some memory issues and they would use the redirect method. Many promises were broken, food was not up to par and other than the dedicated LPNs no one else cared about the residents. I had to relocate my mom to another state to get her the required assistance for memory care she required. What initially began as the perfect place for our loved one turned out to be a disaster due to the reorganization of the company.
