My dad was there for respite care for 5 days and on day 2 they decided that according to a policy there, they couldn't give his 1 medication for bipolar. Decisions were made to stop medication without discussing or informing us. When our hospice company called they were told DON was unavailable and would call back. When I called, it was basically told to me I had no say, citing 'federal law'. Even asked if they would page MD who made the decision that took away our informed consent in a non emergent situation. Administraion left for the day with issue unresolved. When I arrived later, stating if they wouldn't give medication then I was taking him home, suddenly night crew was willing to call MD to approve administration of medication. Then when he was discharged, lady I spoke to on phone stated his psych med and antibiotic which was started per hospice were packed. Of course when he arrived home, no antibiotic. No one in my family will ever be a patient there again for respite care or otherwise.
